Oriana
I googled it while looking up Ethology on the web (About to start her first course on zoology this November) I like how intelligent and well informed people here are, so I guess I've decided to stick around. Mercedes Benzene
I found Hypography doing a google search for something...I believe that it was relative motion. Maybe something else. :)
Jay-qu
Tormod has really done a good job of the google SEO, and without all that exellent work we would have the unique combination of people here at Hypo that makes the place what it is :)
Mercedes Benzene
Tormod has really done a good job of the google SEO, and without all that exellent work we would have the unique combination of people here at Hypo that makes the place what it is That's true, especially since it seems that google is the main source of incoming Hypographers. Gotta love google.
Tormod
Gotta love google. Oh, they were deep in my heart when they banned us in April 2005 for having more than one domain...we were both Hypography.com and Scienceforums.com and I have never heard a word about "duplicate content". We vanished from Google overnight on April 4. We have actually never recovered the traffic we had before then, although we did manage to get back into Google after about 30 days. But yeah, these days we're doing very well in Google and also get a lot of traffic from Ask, MSN, Yahoo etc...we would be nowhere without the search engines. :)
Mercedes Benzene
Oh, they were deep in my heart when they banned us in April 2005 for having more than one domain... Do you know what the reasoning behind that was Tormod?I just looked at some of googles' policies but couldn't find anything.:)
Jay-qu
I guess they dont need a reason, they are a private enterprise, and if they thought that we where trying to get more traffic here via having multiple domains, and that was the reason we got banned, then there isnt much we can do about it.. Tormod
Do you know what the reasoning behind that was Tormod?I just looked at some of googles' policies but couldn't find anything.:embarass: Yes, like I said: Duplicate content. When multiple domains contain the exact same content, Google will penalize you. Since you could access our forums using either of several domains, it appeared we had multiple sites using the same content. It was fixed by making all the other domains simply forward to the hypography.com domain. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769&query=duplicate%20content&topic=&type= Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content. Mercedes Benzene
Got it. That makes sense. I forgot to take into account that "scienceforums.com" simply re-directs. :)

IMAMONKEY!
i mis-googled the word HOLOGRAPHY forum Nice. Funny how such things work out. One mistake can work for the better although to me Hypography is getting to be an addiction. :)
kalesh
I was gooling something about time, when I got to this forum, I think I'm getting addicted already as I spent the better part of the day here.
