A Woman For President

Why hasn't the United States had a woman president?

(or a Black or minority for that reason either)

We are stuck with Bush till 2008, so we might as well start looking in the near future...

I think both Hillary Clinton and Condolleza Rice both could have what it takes. :)

I believe Hillary is smart, tough, and has the American People's better interest at heart.

Condoolleza Rice, although under Republican influence displays a lot of Integrity and dedication.

Is this scenario possible?

Does a woman have what it takes?

I could see myself supporting a Clinton campaign.

Or a Green Party campaign if they get someone better than Nader.

Remember ol' Ross? :hihi:

Bipartisanly yours,

Racoon

God in Heaven forbid. (or help us).

"oh this Iraq thing is just too much already! Oh what am I gonna do about this economy!? Oh there's just so much going on I can't keep up with it! I need to get my nails done today! And I think I'll buy a new hat too! Oh why can't people just be more nice!? Those oil companies are like, such meanies! Ohhh ... I just ... hey! Does my mascara look OK? Does my dress fit? Are people looking at me? Does he want me? ..."

People, if we do this, we will deserve ahtever we get. 'nuff said.

I know that's what Dubya said about Iraq, so what's your point? That we shouldn't let men run the country? Thought so.

1) how much worse can it get ?.

If we continue to do what we keep doing, are we ever going to get better results?

Presentation is important.

Is my tie crooked? Do I look macho enough? What color tie should I wear?

Wheres my make-up artist?>>I go on in 10 minutes

Should I grow a beard? >> that would make me look like Grant.

Everyone at that level is groomed and manicured.

I think a Woman is capable of focusing more on the issues.

The People of New York thought Hillary could focus more on their problems than her appearance.

Who doesn't think about their appearance? In any high level position?

Who wants a PMS nuclear catastrophe?

Just for the record: Men have hormone problems and hormone fluctuations just like women. IMS (irritable male syndrome)

Symptoms include, depression, fatigue, irritability, loss of sex drive and even hot flashes but the real trouble, experts say, is the drop in testosterone and rise in estradiol the "female" hormone that men make too. About 80% of men will experience symptoms of IMS.

There were two age groups where it’s most common and are most likely to have extreme forms of IMS: young men between 15 and 28 years old and those in midlife between 40 and 55 years old.

BTW, I would vote for Buffy without question.

With America's sons in the fields far away, with America's future under challenge right here at home, with our hopes and the world's hopes for peace in the balance every day, I do not believe that I should devote an hour or a day of my time to any personal partisan causes or to any duties other than the awesome duties of this office--the Presidency of your country.

Accordingly, I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your President.

But let men everywhere know, however, that a strong, a confident, and a vigilant America stands ready tonight to seek an honorable peace--and stands ready tonight to defend an honored cause--whatever the price, whatever the burden, whatever the sacrifice that duty may require.

I am unsure this country is ready for that (but is closer than its ever been). JackOfTraDeZ does post some of the reasons I think electing a woman would be hard. Men (generally) hesitate to follow a women in power. The idea of a woman in this position would run contrary to what this culture (and many others) expect from a woman. And the vote is one area you cannot file a discrimination lawsuit over an outcome.

The abortion issue alone would tear people apart. There is no doubt this issue would come up over and over again during the campaign. A democratic woman candidate would alienate many men if she said she supported a womans right to chose. It would go against the psyche of so many peoples idea of a mother figure. What kind of a woman can support the killing of children? Its easier for men to stomach the idea of a man supporting a womans right to chose.

And this same factor would affect the Republican party much more. By this I mean the psyche of peoples ideas of women/mother figures. It wouldnt be the issue of abortion, I have no doubt a woman nomine for the Republican party would be stanchly anti-abortion. It would be the military/business aspect of what many people in the Republican party understand as what works best and represents their ideas.

Now I am not saying all Democratic men/women would think this way, just as I am not saying all Republicans do. But there is enough of this within each of these parties who would vote these issues that way, and it is enough in each party to allow the opponent victory.

I say this simply because in womens rights and such, it is never mentioned that a woman should be paid more for doing the same job as a man, but it is not uncommon for (even to this day) people to say a man is worth more in certain jobs. Look at the struggles for women to become fire fighters. And this is about about the highest office in this nation.

It would be kind of fun to see what would occur on election day if both major candidates were women, and the third party nominees were men.

A woman President is fine with me but I don't support any socialists for President, especially Hillary Clinton. I do think Dr. Rice would make a good candidate, and honestly can't think of anyone else at the moment that would make a good candidate. I'm afraid the next cycle is just going to bring us a choice between bad and worse just like the last one :naughty:
