How far can we go back in space time's history

Ive heard there was recent observations that detected matter from the earliest point in the big bang era. It was said the matter was expanding at 12x the speed of light..

It almost sounds like a bunch of hooey but I assure you this was from a reviewed scientific study. I'd have to look into it again. sry..

Interestingly enough our near future is going to be capable of getting images from space SOOOO FAAAAR beyond the distance and quality than we currently can. They are constructing a new telescope with multiple small mirrors to an overall size of 30meters (much bigger than any single plate mirror telescope as of now 5m range?) Then on top of that there is that new lazer view technique which can correct atmosphere light distortion for hubble like clarity in the imagry.

Once this is completed and operational we are going to be seeing images in such a different class that it will be like comparing the naked eye and an amateru telescope. We'd be able to see the flag on the moon 'if its there'.. or planets in other solar systems!.. what an amazing time we are headed for.

This new technology in general will give us that kind of capability. They use computer controlled mirrors to precisely aim each angle of light to the precise location to prevent any distortion. This technique could turn that Giant radio telecope that is sunk into the groun into a Telescope! lol, we'll have to wait and see how carried away these scientists get.

The problem with using telescopes to detect history is that most of the earliest past is no longer around to look at. What we see, so far away, actually occured 15 billions years after the fact. It is like if we said good bye to a friend and then took his picture when he was on the other side of the earth, we lost everything between the good bye and that picture. The good bye is when the earth stuff and the distance stuff was close.

If the distance stuff was stationary and we move faster than C and slowed and light just caught up it would make sense. But that is impossible.

Just to answer your first post anglepose, asking if we can get further back in time thant the big bang so far is seen as non-sense, because at the moment time is seen as having started with the big bang. That means time doesn't go from minus infinity to plus infinity as the intuition of everyday life tells us, but it has a zero (at the big bang) and goes till now, similarly to the absolute temperature....
