Forest Boy

Recommended Posts

I do not want to live in a society anymore.

I want to live somewhere in the forest,

I want a tree house

and I want to kill animals for food.

I want to make pine needle tea,

and bear jerkey.

I want to be completely alone for as long as I can/want to.

Is there anything stopping me?

Only things I make up in my head.

My friends will always be alive until their dead,

so will my mom, my dad, and my sisters.

When it gets warmer I'm going to put ALL OF MY STUFF in storage,

and spend the entire summer in the santa cruz mountains.

should i venture further?

I've been reading survival books,

And I need to read a lot more.

Do my friends on hypography have any suggestions for me?

I've been thinking about this for years and Now I'm finally out on my own,

and now just so happens to be the exact same time I'm severely disgusted with the way we live.

I HATE CARPET

my carpet is filthy, burned, disgusting.

I WANT EARTH

I may sound like a foolish boy but i KNOW this is what i want to do.

that doesn't sound foolish at all Orby!

My Mom has some property right on the Lewis River, right near Gifford Pinchot Nat'l Forest. :friday:

I have felt the same urges...to go Camp out/live, fish, bird watch, meditate to the sounds of the river. Herb hunt, mineral prospect...

FRESH AIR!

I am sick of Traffic. I am sick of Consumerism.

Heres some advice:

One of the best times of my life was when I spent twelve months living in a teepee ('96-'97). I was still basically part of society though, I was living on my bosses land and working full time in his rainforest nursery, but was blissed out by my own space up on the hill. The first three months was a real struggle to get past no electricity and no running water, but by the end of my time I loved the freedom and the peace. Winter and rain were the two biggest challenges.

Another time I was involved in a massive protest against a gold mine in an extremely sensitive are. We had a big base camp in the middle of the forest and would cruise our stretch of highway each night looking for fresh road kill, mainly kangaroo and wallaby. We ended up calling our base camp 'The Road Kill Cafe', and tanned the skins as well.

It might help a bit if you detail what you plan on bringing with you.

One thing that popped into mind was vitamins. Are there bears where you plan to go? if so, you need a long rope and bag so you can tie your food supplys out of reach.

Have you researched the types of foods, seasons and habitats that they grow in? One thing I was taught about berry picking in bear territory, the bears will be there too.

I believe citizens of Alaska get $1,500 a year in oil money. Perhaps this could cover you essentials for life on your own in the wild. Be warned, people head of into the bush every year only to be never seen again.

Perhaps you need to reevaluate life’s plan. If you are to goal oriented you may become so miserable that the goals do not matter. Life must be a balance between the now and future. When I was 21 I dropped out of college and moved to Los Angeles to train as a prizefighter. It is a move I have never regretted.
