Buffy
No country music either, though I sure wouldn't have picked that.Yikes! No Jerry Jeff Walker? No Waylon Jennings? No Carl Perkins? No Chet Atkins? No Flatt & Scruggs? (well Carl went Rockabilly and F&S went bluegrass, but they started country...) Say it ain't so Joe! Tormod
For me, just about 99% of my music collection would qualify as "foreign". :)

Biochemist
Yes, but where do we put Cole POrter and Gershwin (for when I am tickling the keys)? In Jazz/Blues with Thelonius Monk and BB King? I wonder how many categories there realloy are? Must be hundreds.
Queso
hundreds at least! and then there's the product of combining the two genres, or three, or twenty. cross breeding music to form new genres. it's probably endless. there's always something new. Fishteacher73
Music recently has just been recombinations of the past. The last "new" musical genre could really be considered rap (Possibly electronica, but that seems to fit in already defined genres with just new instumentation). Prior to that the biggest shift in the musical landscap came from jazz. Rock is just a combination of these forms, and while "it's got a good beat and I can dance to ity; I give it a 57" it really is not pushing the musical envelope much further than it already has been. about the only innovation in rock is VOLUME! ledbassest
sorry but there is simply not enough room for all the genres on this earth. please just answer as you feel appropriate. thank you :xx:
ledbassest
For me, just about 99% of my music collection would qualify as "foreign". :hyper: Foreign means not of the language that you speak the most frequent.
niviene
For me, just about 99% of my music collection would qualify as "foreign". :hihi: I hadn't considered that... I suppose foreign would be relative.. :xx: My mood changes - when I am studying, I listen to classical... sometimes I listen to oldies when I'm driving (helps keep me from being an angry driver... :D) and occasionally classic rock.... Kukucan
I am partial to classical piano, but also strings, especially in small groups like trios, quartets, etc. Classical guitar is also nice to listen to.
