  1. m is in kilogram, which is the standard unit for mass.

    Pi Day

    lol
  3. I think NASA should just stop using shuttles to send people up into space. These space shuttles are so hold and obsolete that NASA should just replace them. Not to mention are the safety issues associated with these shuttles. What are your thoughts?

    Pi Day

It's almost Pi day!!!! 3.14 = March 14th :) Do you guys celebrate it? I normally eat a pie on that day.
  5. What I don't get about the new cell phones is why do they have the capabilities of a TV? Who would want to watch TV on such a small screen?
  6. CANADA!!!!! We're going to win both the men and women's hockey!
  7. The seeds in an apple are spaced such that they're proportional to the golden ratio. And also, if you divide two consecutive numbers in the Fibonacci suite, you will see that their ratio will converge to phi... now that's amazing. They also talk about this phi in the Da Vinci's code, but the book by Mario Livio is also really good too.
  8. In fact, not much is known about what happens in a black hole. Here's a great place to start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_hole

    Which domain?

It doesn't really matter, as long as I get redirected when I go to hypography.com
  10. Today, Carl Wieman came to visit my university and he gave a lecture on Bose Einstein Condensate. For those of you who don't know who he is, Wieman won the Nobel Prize in 2001 for his work. His lecture was really interesting. He talked about how he used Rubidium, 6 cheap lasers, and a magnetic field to produce these bosonic BEC. But after a while, it got really complicated and I didn't understand it. Though, the lecture was very enjoyable. This is his website if you want to read about it: http://spot.colorado.edu/~cwieman/
  11. But would this equation still hold if the universe contracted?
  12. And if you want to find the energy of a wave, you can use: E= h*f, where h is the Planck's constand and f is the frequency
  13. Erasmus, You got a point there, I checked and that formula applies to isothermal processes only. The universe does cool down, so that formula wouldn't apply. But I then looked for another formula, and I found one that applies to any process, whether isothermal or not. delta S = integral from Ti to Tf * dQ / T = mc ln (Tf/Ti) since dQ=m*c* dT, where c is the heat capacity of the substance. So in an adiabatic process, the change in heat is zero and therefore the change in entropy is zero.
  14. Well we just finished learning about thermodynamics at school, and I love it!:) I'm not sure what you mean by "working that out" though
  15. But why can't it happen? No one is sure that the Big Crunch won't happen. There might be a lot more dark matter out there than we think.
