  3. It's nice to know that we've got something going and in progress. But I hardly understand anything about code or computers so I think I'll just stick to the biology part of the Nerve Gear. Hoping to go to uni in a few years to study Neuroscience. Let's do this. Very true. I think there have been similair problems with the Oculus Rift. Perhaps a limiter of some sort in the Nerve Gear that only allows the user to enter VR for 3 hours a day which gives the body/brain time to rest. Will also stop people from building a 'second life' inside the VR like in SAO II (Death Gun's partner).
  4. Interesting. I think one of the main questions here is "Are some parts that we need to stimulate, underneath other parts?" Because if so, we'll probably need to use invasive methods. We also need to think about what stimuli would be the best. Because I don't think electromagnetic waves (like in the anime) will cause a depolarisation in the neurones.

I do agree with you that progress will be done in universities and labs. Well, when/if we do present it, we can't present it as a game. Each part(reading, writing, e.t.c) of the Nerve Gear needs to be indvidually researched. I don't think your idea of a company that just does the nerve gear will work. A better idea, i think, would be to have a group of neuroscientists, all close in contact, working on different parts of the Nerve Gear.
  6. I don't entirely understand your first statement. Could you please provide an example? Ah, brain mapping. I think we (as human-kind) have mapped alot of the brain already. But I'm not sure.
  7. Hi I am interested in making the Nerve Gear but I believe that the main problem with developing it is the 'writing' part. What I mean by that, is the transfer of information from the Nerve Gear to the brain. So I made this topic to brainstorm the possible ways of doing this. The important part to remember is not to try and make it like the nerve gear (Therefore just thinking of non-invasive methods) but just to make it work. So to start it off. As another member said: I think its near impossible to stimuate individuals axons, so we are going to have to stimulate entire nerves. E.G. If a feeling is supposed to be felt on the fingertip, stimulate the nerve(s) of the entire finger.
  8. Not entirely true. For example, the 'reading' part of it is pretty much done(We just need a more advanced version of the EEGs). The only thing really holding us back is the 'writing' part. But I do have to agree with your second paragraph though. We can't go straight into Nerve Gear for games. We'll never get taken seriously and won't get funding which we will probably need.
