  1. That is indeed interesting. I walk a lot too, but I never run. I only run on the treadmill, does that count? I think I should walk less and run more.
  2. I am not sure if this applies to everyone, but it happened to me. I lived alone for over 6 years in a city where it was almost impossible to make friends. Sometimes I felt lonely, but sometimes I really enjoyed being alone. What happened later is that when I started living with people again, I sometimes felt that I wasn't very comfortable with so many people around because I kind of lost that space I had before. When I was living on my own, I had a cat to keep me company. I know that cats can't talk to you, but it helps somehow.
  3. I don't think it's a bad thing to have different mental issue categories split into smaller categories of disorders. I agree with Buffy; that means that we can get more focused on the real issue and treat it how it should be treated.
  4. I've always been able to play the piano by ear using just one hand but I've actually never been to a music institute to improve my skills. I am in my mid 30's now and I was wondering if it's too late to learn the piano? What is the ideal age? And when is it too late?
  5. I'm listening to Russian Roulette by Rihanna at the moment. I love this song. In fact, I am trying to learn how to play it on the piano :)
  6. I am 35 years old now, and I have lived all my life hating mangoes, until about 2 years ago when my friend really forced me to taste a Kenyan mango. I loved it! I can't explain why it's so delicious, but I sure am regretting all the years I wasted not eating mangoes :)
  7. I think it's having a good musical ear. I have been blessed with the gift of being able to play any song that I can memorize on the piano. But only using my right hand. I've been wondering if I should take some piano classes?
  8. I speak English as my mother tongue French, Spanish and Turkish (because I live in Istanbul, Turkey and I am married to a Turk). I was thinking of starting some Russian classes because I find this language fascinating :)
  9. What about Russian? Did anyone ever try learning this complex language? I find the sound of it very interesting and I would love to at least try and learn it. Any tips?
  10. While intelligence is inherited genetically, it may not be developed to its full potential without education. I found that education, travel, interacting with different people from differen cultures and backgrounds can affect your level of intelligence.
  11. Tell me about being beat! I've spent almost all day walking in the sun because I needed to run some errands and then I got a headache (which I'm still suffering from now). I drank almost 4 liters of water and I still feel that I'm dehydrated. Time to relax now :)
  12. I really find it hard to believe that it's a virus. It's our lifestyle, diets, excercise habits and sleeping patterns. I'm speaking for myself. I've never been obese but I had a few pounds that I wanted to shed, and I know that since I started exercising regularly I saw a huge difference. If I believed that it was a virus, I would probably not do anything about it and it would just get worse.
  13. It depends on my mood, the type of music and what I'm doing while I listen to it. If I want to relax, I listen to Yanni for example. His music makes me feel so peaceful. When I'm cleaning around the house, I like to listen to pop music to give me extra energy.
  14. I definitely did not enjoy Premetheus. I found it too hypey for my taste to be honest. I guess it all comes down to people's tastes :)
  15. My all time favorite alien movie is Alien Quadrilogy with Sygourney Weaver. I've seen so many alien movies after that but nothing tops it in my opinion; especially not Prometheus. What do you think?
  16. I'm not really sure about how it works between people, I rather think that opposites attract than like attracts like. But in my experience, when I get up on the wrong side of bed, my whole day is ruined and my mood is down; therefore, everything I encounter that day is negative. This definitely has something to do with out thought pattern.
  17. I know I don't believe in superstitions, but sometimes I find myself "knocking on wood" without being aware that I'm doing it. I have a friend who never talks about her plans to anyone until they come true because she thinks they will be "jinxed".
  18. I don't agree that French only has one word to express "like" and "love"; it has many. I speak French, Spanish and Turkish and I can tell you that there are a lot of languages out there that are way richer than the English language. English is simpler for us because it's our mother tongue, but if you really want to learn a foreign language, there is a very important rule: you must stop comparing it with your own because you will get confused. Every language has a completely different structure and if you try to compare, you will go crazy.
  19. Thank you everyone for the tips and ideas. And the winner is: oatmeal. I checked on some websites and it happens to help as a laxative. Thankfully I don't have to eat either plums or apricots but I happen to love oats. So I'll give it a try, thanks.
  20. I don't like to use laxative pills, so my husband suggested that I eat either apricots or plums and that they might help. The problem is that I don't like either but I would force myself to eat one of them if they actually work. Can anyone suggest which one I should eat? And do they work?
