Tormod
Freethinker suggested I set up a CafePress shop to sell some Hypography branded merchandise. Well, I though it could be worthwhile - I sure hope you check it out at http://www.cafepress.com/hypography Remember, if you buy anything there Hypography get a small percentage off each sale which helps me run this site. Support Hypography! Tormod
Tormod
...and of course, if anyone has any good ideas about how these products could be made more interesting, let me know. Tormod
Tormod
Just updated the store and added a link on top of the forums pages. Now most of the shirts and mugs show "Science Forums" as well as the Hypography logo.
Freethinker
Could I suggest expanding on "Connect the Dots" theme? Perhaps the "H" with words be each dot, such as "Science", "Disucssions" "resource Links"... I am trying to think of something that would generate interest in the merchandice itself, not just for those that like Hypo, but the sayings/ images themselves. Thus actually cross promoting the site to those that just like the shirts.
Tormod
Good idea. I have a friend who works as a designer - he was going to help me think up some clever designs this summer but then he went to Iceland to get married (why do people do these strange things). I'll see what I can come up with in my, um, spare time. Did you know that the hexagon string on the right side of the logo actually says "Science for everyone"? The font is called "Sixgun" or something.

IrishEyes
Geko, I'll design and purchase the shirt for you, and personally hand deliver it... IF you will come to the HC Europe next spring. Deal???
TINNY
It should be given away free, T (sounds like FreeT). But seriously, giving it away to us will help promote your website a lot, especially here in Malaysia. People will see me and say it's cool and they'll ask what it's all about and so on. I think you should emphasize the website as a popular science site, not the forum as in "Science Forum". Forums are still rather alien in countries like mine. Maybe just the logo and name with the address will look fine
Tormod
Giving away free shirts would be nice. The banner income from this site, minus hosting and other expenses, would cover about 5 t-shirts a month. We have around 150,000-200,000 visitors per month. Who should get the free shirts (and who would pay the postage)? If every t-shirt given away create, say, 5 new visitors per month, that would mean we would get about 1/300th of a percent increase in traffic. Sorry, but it's not doable at the moment. However, if someone wants to SPONSOR the shirts I'd be happy to give them away. I think it works the other way around: A site like Hypography is a non-profit site which has cost much more to make than it brings in. If you want to help promote it, buy a t-shirt. I can of course make t-shirts without the Science Forums on them. I just had to start somewhere.
IrishEyes
I will be handing out FREE Hypography t-shirts at the Convention next spring. So, if you want a shirt, all you have to do is show up. That way nobody has to pay for shipping, and we're sure to get lots of people there. I mean, hey - we're passing out FREE FREE FREE stuff. Who doesn't show up for something when they're getting something free. As for you, Tinny... as traveling from Malaysia might be a little mroe costly than a shirt, we'll figure something out just for you.
