Heartwarming and Whistlecooling Beverage Recipes

Buffy

Recommended Posts

This is a combo thread transfer from Irish's Kelly's Koffee recipe and Opie's wondering what I'm saying "cheers" all the time with. SO, first,

Buffy's Top Ten Heartwarming and Whistlecooling Beverages:

1) Coffee-black

2) Espresso

3) Peet's Cafe Freddo (see a theme here?)

4) Margarita (see below)

5) Trader Vic's Mai Tai (with pupus!), or any Mai Tai on the beach in Maui or Kauai

6) Pledge Of Allegiance Daquiri (see below)

7) Martini (Skyy), dirty, up, with 2 olives

8) Cosmopolitans...only when out with the girls...

9) Wild Turkey, rocks, with a twist (when stuck in a Texas honky tonk or the Saddle Rack in Fremont)

10) Mint Julep: only on the first Saturday in May or when in New Orleans...

11) Guinness: whenever I'm in a pub in Dublin or London

12) Glenmorangie: whenever I'm in Edinburgh

Okay, you got two bonus items!

In spite of the sign off, no I don't actually consume that much...

Second, a few of Buffy's recipes:

Buffy's Perfect Margarita:

Sauza Hornitos or Herradura Gold

Grand Marnier

Rose's Lime or Dr. Swami's Margarita Mix

Rocks, half salt.

Pledge of Allegiance Daquiri:

Main complication is that it requires 3 blenders...

In all three blenders:

Rum: 2:1 mixture of Bacardi:Myers (weird, its a requirement: if you're adventurous, switch it to 3:1 an substitute Bacardi 151 for the Myers, either one adds "bite" thats not there in the white Bacardi)

Roughly equal parts rum to Rose's Lime juice

Ice to 2 times the height of the liquid

Then:

Blender 1: Strawberries, or for the adventurous (who don't mind seeds) Raspberries

Blender 2: Bananas (more adventurous) or Pina Colada

Blender 3: Blueberries, (more adventurous) Blackberries or (my favorite) Loganberries and to get the full effect, a drop or two of blue food dye...

Blend all well and pour layered into tall glasses....

Cheers! :)

Buffy, I don't drink, and somehow you've given me a craving for one of those daquiris.
Well, I won't encourage bad habits for anyone, but I also say "moderation in all things..."
I vote for you to sell all hypography merchandise :)
So you can tell now that my actual area of expertise is in...marketing! :)

Some advice relevant to the delicious recipes in this thread, from yesterday's Leah Garchik column in the SF Chronicle:

"310 pounds! ... I need to stop putting salt on my margaritas. It makes me retain water..."

-- Man at Kaiser in Santa Rosa

Yes, moderation in all things! :hihi:

Cheers,

Buffy
