  1. Craig- I had a first hand experience with MRSA. It is affecting very healthy indiviguals, and it is NOT common. Staph is - not MRSA. My 14 healthy year old son got it. Went to Schneider's Hospital (considered one of the 2 best in the US) They were unable with all their infectious disease experts to determine what the problem was. Until 3 days later. At which point sepsis set in, and they were trying to correct that. Vicomycin is the only drug to combat MRSA. Even the ME (medical examiner) was perplexed. It took him 6 months of sending sample after sample to the CDC to find out why a healthy 14 year old walked in, and didn't walk out. http://www.northshorelij.com/workfiles/newsletters/vitality.pdf pages 40 and 41 the above article, further explains "waging war against the super bug" and how the NY State Dept of health has awarded a 200,000$ grant to study it further.
  2. Land line comes in handy, when we had the NY black out, cells weren't working. Also when time warner cable goes out, and interferes with VOIP, no service for 12 days till technician came out. For everything the cell phones.
  3. In ones mind many things and thoughts exist, including god. The Wired magazine had an article, in early 2000, where they monitored the brain to discover the area most responsible for the God thought.
  4. Speaking for myself, my family and my friends, we have all maintained weights of under 60 kilos, or 140 pounds. No meat, no cakes, very little dairy, no soda, no pizza, no bread. no butter. No problem. Regular exercise, eating home cooked meals, and very little consumption of restaurant food. If weight gain were so easy as everyone believes it to be, then all the African countries suffering shortages of food supplies would be gaining weight instead of starving. Americans are obese from the non nutritional food intake. Coupled with sedentary lives. When McDonalds first opened in Paris (they had to open a McDonalds as the US threatened a trade embargo if not) The French government fearing that the society would become obese and therefore pay for their health, (socialized medicine) promptly implemented nutritional classes in the elementary schools. Obesity and all other health ailments are a gold mine for the US Companies. In England (where they also have socialized medicine) they have ads on the back of the buses, which say " Do you want your back to be this wide?" In order to stay trim. If the US had socialized medicine, many diseases would be non existent, so would obesity.
  5. No argument there, greed is greed.
  6. Are religions harmful to society? Tall Tales are harmful to everyone if they are taken as truth. Given that the general population has an IQ of under 120, that accounts for about 75%. That segment doesn't appear to have critical thinking, to question whether anything is harmful or not. It accepts what is told, and follows blindly, contributing funds to the prefered religion. As all religions are money based, other than the Amish.
  7. Thanks for the warm welcome Buffy! Biology and Physics are my main interests.
