Here Is a BIG PROBLEM I see All the Time!!! :hyper:

Protein Bars!! & Energy Bars!!

Be VERY CAREFUL!

Sports bars are Multi-Billion Dollar Business folks $$$$$$$:)

Don't get Tooken! :note:

Most aren't worth a crap. Read the Ingredients carefully. The wrapper might say great things, but the Ingredients tell a different story...

There will be sugars in these, but watch for a "chain" of these guys...

such as: high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, sugar, ....followed by "hydrogenated vegetable oils" :cup:

There are a Ton of Protein and Energy bars out there, and I can't break them ALL down in one post... but here are two of my recommendations:

for Protein: Met-Rx makes better ones that taste good :)

for Energy: CLIF bars are usually pretty good for taste and ingredient quality:)

Anyone have anything else to add? experiences? other opinions?

This won't be going away.

Heres a new Chapter on "Chemical Health Risks of Conventionally Produced Foods!"

:eek: :evil: --->>> :rolleyes: :)

(I'll get back to sports bars after a while)

Pesticides: More than a dozen formerly wide-used pesticides have been banned, restricted, or voluntarily withdrawn by Manufacturers since 1996, after tougher federal laws were passed...;)

Consumers can STILL easily consume more than 30 pesticides DAILY when eating a healthful variety of foods!

LISTEN HERE FOLKS:

Eating an Organic Diet can limit further exposure.

A study supported by the EPA published in 2005 measured Pesticide levels in the urine of 23 children here in Washington state Before AND After a switch to an Organic diet...

Researchers found that after just 5 days on the new diet, specific markers for commonly used pesticides Decreased to "undetectable" levels and remained that way until conventional diets were re-introduced

The study's conclussion?:

" An Organic diet provides dramatic and immediate protective effect" against such pesticide exposure!

Stay Tuned...;)

and please feel free to Add your insights and experience

Heres some more.

NEW EVIDENCE also shows that contrary to previous scientific belif, Pesticides in a Woman's Bloodstream CAN be passsed to a fetus in the womb!!

A study released in 2005 in which umbilical-cord blood of 10 children was collected by the Red Cross and tested for pollutants showed that 21 pesticides crossed the Placenta! :eek2:

"A lot of these pesticides are toxic to the brain" says Philip Landgrian M.D. - professor of pediatrics and preventive medicine at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City..

" We have very good evidence that exposure of the fetus to organophosphorus pesticides produces babies with smaller head circumference, which is a risk factor for reduced intelligence and behavioral disturbances"

WTF!?

Hormones:

Studies suggest that synthetic growth hormones may be carcinogenic and that exposure to them may be linked to the precocious onset of puberty in girls! :cat:

The USDA bans the use of such hormones in Poultry (Organic or Not),

but when it comes to hogs, beef, or dairy cattle, ONLY Organic producers are Legally bound not to use them!

:naughty:

Antibiotics:

Farmer's widespread use of antibiotics to speed up animals' growth and deal with issues that crop up from keeping animals in overcrowded and unsanitary pens has helped spawn more resistant bacteria.

This resistance increases the odds that a drug that "might" have saved your life if you were hit by, say, a life threatening case of food poisoning will now do you no good.

:D
