Dark Mind
...Perpetual Motion is possible. My very first post on this site :).
Guest loarevalo
:) I guess I'm trying to "persuade my hard-headed adult [counterparts]" that Perpetual Motion is possible then :). I'm sixteen .I'll check that proposal about perpetual motion. I'm 19 years old and spent the last 4 years searching for an explanation of Division by Zero. It was also my first thread that dealt with this - check it out if you haven't. I wanted to share those ideas so to get suggestions as to how that is possible, or coherent, and how the ideas can be incorporated into mainstream.:)
UncleAl
if I can't calculate anything interesting, maybe in time i'll be able to, you never knowIf you wish to accurately predict the future, show up early each morning and help create it. You will starve because your Food Stamps are hidden under your work boots. http://space.mit.edu/home/tegmark/toe_frames.htmlMiddle Can you do any of that math? What are you doing to change your answer to the question? http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/week39.htmlhttp://www.math.washington.edu/~smith/Research/research.html You will waste 12 years (!) taking baby steps: arithmetic, algebra, 2-D trigonometry, 2-D Euclidean geometry. There will hardly be any time remaining in which to acquire an education. How can you even begin to imagine engaging deep thoughts when you have no language in which to contain them? THEY LIED TO YOU The rotten whole cloth of public education has rendered you stupid and obedient. You wear a plastic bracelet to cure the world. How sad, ridiculous, and ironic. Save the drama for your mama. Get down and PUSH. I guess I'm trying to "persuade my hard-headed adult [counterparts]" that Perpetual Motion is possible then. Guest loarevalo
I read all the posts of Darkmind's thread on perpetual motion only to find out the thread is closed! I agree with all the posts. Usually why the phrase "perpetual motion" stirs up people, is because it usually implies a violation of conservation laws - energy coming from nowhere, energy being created into the universe. Perpetual motion itself is a nice fact from conservation laws - if a system is completely isolated, it will continue on its current state of motion perpetually. Those systems do exist in vacuous space (though it's arguable due to the necessity of an absolute void - absolute 0 Kelvin). We have constructed macro-size (human-size) apparatus nearly frictionless, but they seem to be only pieces of amusement and show in musems (a grandfather clock is a good example). What are you trying to construct? A machine that displays movement perpetually? or an isolated machine that produces energy, perpetually? If the latter, such apparatus violates laws of conservation - and these laws are the fundamental assumptions from which science is developed. I would also think all religions also assume conservation. We may be wrong, however. You should read about black-holes. These absorb matter, but don't release it. Hawking said that black-holes actually did spit somethings out - to compensate the rest of the universe, or keep it in "balance." The issue you are arguing is the issue of conservation. Dark Mind, It might be better that you respond through a private message, if you wish to respond - I am eaguer to hear you're side of it. Charliebrown
There can be useful new thought in many places. Go forwards with a good explorer's kit of well tested tools, The exploration represents finding an intersting region, the tools represent learning advanced techniques. Automatic equipment does the purely repetitive things. Aloha, Charlie
Dundasbro
Wow I make an intro thread expecting to get no replys and suddenly there is 3 pages worth, this is pretty interesting :)
Dark Mind
2 pages for me :eek_big:. I have it set up so it displays 20 posts per page, easier and quicker to navigate .
