How did ringtone came in existence?

Recommended Posts

um hello i'm new here and i wanna to know how did ringtone came in existence, cause i need that for my school subject ;) ;) ;) :(

Hi there.

I'm sorry to corrupt your young mind with the harsh realities of human nature, but ringtones came into existence when somebody at a mobile phone company saw potential in it to make some bucks.

Its all about the money.

The initial ringtones for cellphones was created to simulate a normal telephone.

And normal telephones had that specific tone because everybody became used to the old phones which rang, not with a little speaker, but with a little solenoid whacking a tiny hammer onto a tiny bell. And a bell can only ring in one way.

Why they used a bell in the first place was possibly because its the loudest thing they had that fit into such a small box. My personal opinion is because a bell happened to lie on the inventor's desk when he was busy slapping the whole thing together. But I'm probably wrong. It's just loud. And the solenoid is like a tiny little miniature Quasimodo, just slightly better-looking.

well, here is a place you can reference (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ringtone)

but yes, ringtones are were very much made for the mere reason of customers ability to further customize their phone, that therefore provided phone companies with a perfect opportunity to make money, but not only that, ring tone companies are also very common now, with royalties trickling down to the music industry, and everything in between... so yup, money is the main motivator...
