Alex358
Last year I moved to a different country and I left a very good friend whose company I enjoy very much. He was (still is) the kind of guy who you would split a liter (or two) of beer with and talk about all thing existential. Of course, we're still friends, but now that it is long distance, I miss having someone in my daily life to shoot the breeze with, over important issues. labelwench
I take it that neither of you are that comfortable on the telephone? That marvelous 'old technology' where you can actually hear the voice of the person at the other end, which has morphed with today's technology to allow you to video chat. Hubby called me from the Yukon on my Blackberry Playbook while I was in Ontario and I literally wandered from room to room in the house while he got to say hello to everyone present. However, I will confess that it was only the second time we had used that feature even though we have each owned a Playbook for several years. For myself, the phone has always been a tool that I used at work and for special occasions to call long distance because residing here in the far north, the price of communications has traditionally been very high. Now that I have unlimited text and talk in Canada, I really do not have anyone that I care to just chat with unless they are in my personal space, so, yeah, I can totally understand where you are coming from. Elisa
Ahhh yes. I have had the same experience. Although there is Skype and the telephone (as a last resort), it just doesn't seem the same as sitting with someone, glass of wine in hand, talking about the meaning of life now does it? One of my closest friends is on the other side of the planet and we do the Skype thing and it's "almost" like the real thing, but not quite.
