  1. There is a new element called Administratium. It has the power to slow down all government functions. Similar to Governmentium, but far more dangerous.
  2. Kendo! Great exercise. Nothing like a physically taxing exercise that lets you hit other people with bamboo swords. Talk about a stress reliever!;)
  3. Freedom of speech is always limited. Besides the fire in a crowd example, a school teacher can not teach intelligent design as another possible theory to evolution. There is no fear of causing harm to the people in the classroom. There is instead the fear of hurting the feelings of any children who's parents are atheists. In that case, the rights of the few are more important than the wishes of the majority. The question of flag burning really comes down to a vote on it. If 51% of the United States wants flag burning to be illegal, then it can never be illegal because it would be oppressive to the minority of people who want to burn flags. Remember, in this country it's minority rules now ;)
  4. Too many less than 6 and I'm dead the next morning. More than 8, and I can get up, shower, and need a nap right away. It's amazing.
  5. When I was getting my degree at UC Davis, my environmental chemistry teacher had a day discussion on the ozone layer. The environmentalists were claiming that at the current rate of ozone depletion, by 2005 the Earth would be uninhabitable by everything but some simple bacteria. Like the ozone hole political scare tactics of 10 years ago, global warming is this decades new boogey-monster. Normal variances in global temperatures is normal, and the amount of "greenhouse" gasses put out as a result of mankind pales in comparison to normal volcani activity. The current "warming trend" is actually already on the down-swing. But I enjoy watching the "Chicken-Little" effect in the news. I'll see you all in ten years, and there won't be any icebergs in down town Manhattan. ;)
  6. Im a cartoon guy. Now sometimes I catch some of the stand-up on Comedy Central, but mostly cartoons with my son.
  7. Ill be 34 in about 2 weeks!
  8. I taught myself some basic dog-paddling one time while camping. I asked my parents for swim lessons. Eventually I was taught at the local municipal pool. I continued until I even got a lifeguarding certificate, although I never worked as a lifeguard. I started my son in swim lessons at 3.5 years old. He's really enjoying it now at 5, and he's darn good at the back-stroke. He didn't learn that one from me, I hated the back-stroke.
  9. My dad started getting his degree in chemical engineering. He didn't finish, but worked as a chemist for a tire manufacturing company. He would bring little science experiments home from work when I was at a young age. This started me in my scientific curiosity. I've carried on the tradition with my own son. Although I don't steal chemicals from work, I buy the science kits from stores like "The Discovery Store". He enjoys them, and asks a lot of questions.
  10. The majority of TV I watch is with my 5 year old son. Right now we're watching the Charlie Brown two-disc DVD set on US History.
  11. Hello everyone, I'm just dropping in to introduce myself. I am a forensic scientist out of the Phoenix Arizona area. Glad to be here.
