  1. I think natural is basically the world we know, which we analyse and interact with. We go into the realm of the suprnatural when we start speculating. Eg:I guess most of Jules Vernes' stories, at ther time of publication, could be said to be dealing with the supernatural. But we know those things to be facts today.
  2. I'm currently reading Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson. Seems pretty interesting, I'm nearly halfway through it. Its a series of 8 books in 3 vol. set in the Baroque period.
  3. His Dark Materials is one of the best series I have ever read! Pullman basically pulls apart every foundation on which the church has been laid. While I wouldn't give that as a reason for reading the book, i just hope some people wont be shocked when they read it. Pullman is easily one of the most original writers in recent times. The book has many philosophical aspects as well. A must read indeed!
  4. F=ma is basically just an approximation. You have to include the lorentz factor. So I'm not sure if it's valid to ask whether it's possible for it to be violated.
  5. By measuring it, you become a part of it. We are not independent observers. I'll have to look through Tao of Physics again to give you a proper answer though. As for FTL travel, I think our thoughts at least travel faster than light. BTW can anyone shed some some light on a report I readsome time ago, about some Australian scientist who proposed that the speed of light is slowing down? I would help if I could remember where I read it:doh:
  6. Hi People! I'm Pratik. I'm an engineering student, with a lot of interest in fantasy and science. I'm currently on a mission to survive eng. and understand the purpose of life, and the relation b/w religion and science. I hope we can all help each other move ahead:)
