gribbon Posted January 4, 2007 Report Share Posted January 4, 2007 The last countries to abolish slavery were Iran (1928), Ethiopia (1942) and Qatar (1952). It has not disappeared, however. Modern day slavery embraces two million people worldwide, an observable fact, practised not only in Somalia, but Myanmar (Burma) the Sudan, Haiti, Pakistan, Benin, Togo, Bolivia, Cambodia, Cuba, Ecuador, Jamaica, Kuwait, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Mauritania and Venezuela.
