Absence of the present

have any of you heard of the idea that there are only 2 tenses, past and future. this being because once the future reaches us it will already be the past. i am trying to find out who came up with this, and it is driving me crazy. i would like to think that i did, but i am pretty sure that i didn't.

 

if you have any ideas let me know:confused: :surprise:

Oh... that idea first came from Billy. He's the pale boogary blonde kid with the droopy eyes who lives down the hall in #219. :hihi:

 

 

Kidding aside, I would argue the opposite. There is only one tense, and it is now. Even the past and future are contained within. Here's a thread with some really good dialogue on this:
