What apeture does it have? I'd start with at least a 75mm. The bigger the better though. Get the biggest apeture you can afford. Quote

G2006 Posted June 21, 2005 Author Report Posted June 21, 2005 heres the link http://www.telescopes.com/products/Tasco_578x60mm_Refractor_15124.html Quote
C1ay Posted June 21, 2005 Report Posted June 21, 2005 heres the link http://www.telescopes.com/products/Tasco_578x60mm_Refractor_15124.htmlIt will do the job for looking at the moon, some of the larger planets when they're in opposition and some of the larger messier objects. It'll suffice for a beginner scope. Quote
Turtle Posted June 22, 2005 Report Posted June 22, 2005 ___My experience is that the type of scope you have in mind on that link (Tasco 3" refractor) is not worth the money. Why not? Wobbly tripod, poor optics, won't work for terrestrial use, no inclination, declination markings, higher power eyepieces next to useless...___For your $60 I recommend binoculars or a spotting scope with a tripod mount like shooters use. Why? High quality optics, useable for astronomy or terrestrial viewing, durable construction, ease of use, select your own mount, & some have a zoom. Quote
G2006 Posted June 22, 2005 Author Report Posted June 22, 2005 thanks turtle i will keep that in mind when i come to purchase a telescope, and thanks to all the other people with a input ver helpfulThanks again Quote
