If a gas is compressed enough, would it solidify?

I have this sample exam question that has me confused/curious I was wondering about.

"If a gas in a closed space is compressed, it will

a. decrease in temperature

b. increase in temperature

c. solidify

d. move more slowly"

b & c both seem technically correct to me but there is only supposed to be one answer (which the answer sheet says ,

Wouldn't it eventually solidify as well?

I know it would liquidfy but Im not 100% on solidify but my physics tells me it would.

Any links to information on this would be appreciated. thanks

It will initially increase in temperature and that is the best answer of those given. If it were compressed enough it would eventually turn to liquid and if that liquid were compressed enough it would eventaully solidify. Compressing the gas would not yield a solid directly though so it would not be a technically correct answer.
