A-wal doesn't know the difference between an automatic reaction and a voluntary response.

I am sure an A&E Doctor could explain it to him, but will he ask? Nah

Again, that makes absolutely no sense. The claim was that a response to stimuli is evidence of a conscious process and therefore computers have a basic level of consciousness. If it's a voluntary then it's a conscious response. Computers can't make voluntary responses.

 

There's no way to tie consciousness to materialistic processes because it exists outside of the material realm. How complicated does a neural network have to be before it suddenly becomes conscious? Or is it gradual, meaning every physical reaction is in some way conscious?
