I would think if it was a result of out-gassing due to global warming, we would see more of them along the same latitude or close to it in other countries. That would depend on the how large the gas deposits are in the area and they could be occurring in the ocean at that latitude without being seen I suppose. I couldn't quite tell from the video if they thought the result is a consequence of explosions or void collapses or a combination of both. The video sort of hints at both scenarios.
