There are some viruses and malware exclusively for google since it is used by most. If your system is affected by one of them, then results presented by google do not show what you expect. It is better to use other search engines. I use these two as alternatives: http://www.answers.com/ http://www.search.com/

Why do you think of google alone to search the internet?

The Hindu Upanishads are philosophy texts which are part of Vedas. Upanishad - Search.com The Rig Veda is now accepted by western scholars as 8000 years old. Rig Veda - Search.com Upanishad means the inner or mystic teaching. The term Upanishad is derived from upa (near), ni (down) and s(h)ad (to sit), i.e., sitting down near. Groups of pupils sit near the teacher to learn from him the secret doctrine. In the quietude of the forest hermitages the Upanishad thinkers pondered on the problems of deepest concerns and communicated their knowledge to fit pupils near them. Samkara derives the word Upanishad as a substitute from the root sad, 'to loosen.,' 'to reach' or 'to destroy' with Upa and ni as prefixes and kvip as termination. If this determination is accepted, upanishad means brahma-knowledge by which ignorance is loosened or destroyed. The treatises that deal with brahma-knowledge are called the Upanishads and so pass for the Vedanta (philosophy). The different derivations together make out that the Upanishads give us both spiritual vision and philosophical argument. There is a core of certainty which is essentially incommunicable except by a way of life. It is by a strictly personal effort that one can reach the truth. Upanishads Ancient Hindu Sastras say that the Upanishads were written along with the Vedas some 4 billions of years ago.

"Our two minds .... One is an act of the emotional mind, the other of the rational mind. In a very real sense we have two minds, one that thinks and one that feels" (Daniel Goleman, Emotional Intelligence, Bloomsbury Publishing, London, 1996, page 8). This rational mind is also called the faculty of logic and reason. However logic has its limitations: In the 1930s, Austrian mathematician Godel proved a theorem which became the "Godel theorem" in cognition theory. It states that any formalized 'logical' system in principle cannot be complete in itself. It means that a statement can always be found that can be neither disproved nor proved using the means of that particular system. To discuss about such a statement, one must go beyond that very logic system; otherwise nothing but a vicious circle will result. Psychologist say that any experience is contingent - it's opposite is logically possible and hence should not be treated as contradictory. The Upanishads call the emotional component of mind as Chitta and the rational component of mind as Manas. The nature of Manas changes with each and every perception and it's understanding. Manas represents the intellignce of a person. In general, women excell in Chitta and men excell in Manas. Men have the ability to transcend the limitations of Manas and activate the higher component of mind Buddhi (intellect or wisdom) which deals with deliberation of the pros and cons using discrimination after considering what is emotional and what is rational. It overcomes the limitations of logic and reasoning. In English, 'flourit' means the age of dawning or flowering of wisdom; it also means the age of 40. (See a multi-volume dictionary in a library). Generally, Buddhi (intellect) starts funtcioning after the age of 40 years, but it may take longer for others. You can not blame a teenager or a youth for not having it. It is a general observation that only person aged beyond 40 years are called intellectuals. -
"Yet scientists know very little about how pain works. ...arthritis ... back pain ... migraines ... A Gallup Poll done in 2000 found that 80 percent of American believe pain is part of getting old... More than a quarter of them figured there is no solution to their pain..." "Pain is complex and defies our ability to establish a clear definition," Weiner says. "Pain is far more than neural transmission and sensory transduction. Pain is a complex mixture of emotions, culture, experience, spirit and sensation." "Chronic pain is long-term, continuous and far more frustrating. It can result from physical injury, viral infections of the nerve, or arthritic damage to joints and degeneration of bones, Lawson writes." The pain that you are refering to is called 'mysterious' pain in ancient Yoga texts. It can not be defined by modern science or medicine. I have published a paper on Vedic cure for Rheumatism in Express Star Teller (India), June 2006. Rheumatism usually affects old persons. But there are cases that some youths also are affected by rheumatism. The allopathy medicine has no cure for it. Traditional Indian methods like Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy are capable of giving some relief but not a high degree of cure. Rheumatism is caused by static electricity in the body. Modern science knows that the brain and the spine carry electrical signals. These are signals of Asani in Sanskrit science terminology. These signals are affected by static electricity, the Sani. Modern science also knows that the lower parts of the body has static electricity. The voltage of this static electricity is particularly serious in explosives factories and the like. Some explosives may get triggered due to the high voltage of the static electricity in human bodies. Hence, workers in an explosives factory are provided with special boots which have a strong metal strip that short circuits the static electricity voltages between the knees and the lower part of the heels. However, it is only a temporary method. When the static electricity of the lower parts ascends up through the spine, deterioration of the distribution of electrical signals occur throughout the brain-spine system. This does not occur all of a sudden (except in cases of witchcraft). The voltage of static electricity increases with every year of passing after the age 20 years. In my paper, I have given scientific methods to reduce the static electricity in the body. To give you an example case history, I have treated a person with an M.D. degree in Medicine who was suffering from rheumatism for 10 years since his age of 35. He knew that medicines of his knowledge can not give him cure. He tried other methods, but without success. He was using a car because he found it difficult to walk even for 10 minutes for his normal activities. His natal chart indicated that he is suffering from low-level seriousness of rheumatism. Accordingly, the first three exercises were prescribed. He was able to walk for 10 minutes after one week of doing the exercises. He was relieved from 90 percent of his suffering after one month of doing the exercises. Those who are interested to know more can write to me providing their email addresses. I will send a copy of my paper and give suggestions. I will not accept any money. Dr. V. Siva Prasad Retired Professor of Engineering Andhra University, India profvsprasad@rediffmail.com

What ever has happened, it is within the provisions given by the age of darkness. Ages of Man - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia We can certainly imagine how deteriorated human civilization will be by the end of Kali-yuga. Indeed, there will no longer be a sane man capable of understanding God and our relationship with Him. In other words, human beings will be just like animals. Krishna Conscious Solutions 2 Kali Yuga In this age of Kali the propensity for mercy is almost nil. Consequently there is always fighting and wars between men and nations. Men do not understand that because they unrestrictedly kill so many animals, they also must be slaughtered like animals in big wars. This is very much evident in the Western countries ... in the modern age people in general are more or less bereft of all spiritual intellect. When such people come under the influence ... before beginning the most confidential Vedanta-sutras, their natural tendency toward obedience to the Supreme is checked. Kali Yuga, The Problems and the Solution Humans did not behave more than what was predicted.

While I was in service at our university, I hava seen data sheets of both Intel and AMD. The salesman told that AMD CPU chip size is small and runs cool because it uses RISC architecture. I have not seen the latest brochures. I have understood the line in AMD ads "performance-per-watt capabilities" that it is still using RISC. If AMD is producing CISC processors for some mini-computer or server applications, that would not matter the general user. Largest number of users will be interested about what is available in the open market. Mr. Tormod, I will be thankful to you if you can give the model numbers/names of AMD processors that have CISC architecture which are intended for personal computers.
-
What I have read in computer magazines that AMD uses RISC architecture for their CPUs. You can check the data sheets of AMD. I have run bench marking software, both on Intel and a compatible AMD. I found that 'MFLOPS' rating of AMD is less than that of Intel. I can provide the actual values if you want. You can delete my entry if you do not like it. I am willing to accept it. Dr. V. Since many of you know the differece between CISC and RISC architectures, these site references are deleted.

If the Speed of Light changed, would we even notice it.
VS Prasad replied to WebFeet's topic in Astronomy and Space
Who were the first to calculate the velocity of light? The Rig Veda Bhashyam by Sayana Madhava gives the following Sloka praising the Sun: Yojanam sahasre dve, satadve, dvecha yojane Ekena nimeshardhena kramamaana namosthuthe One Yojana equals 15788.8 meters, and half of Nimesha equals 8/75 fraction of a second. This gives the velocity of light as 325940 km/s. We have to remember here that the above value is an approximate one intended for easy remembrance, like remembering the value of pi as 22/7. It is better than the value 215000 km/s given by Danish astronomer Ole Roemer in 1676. The word 'kramamaana' means gradual change over long periods of time. Ancient Indian seers did not use light as a standard for length measurement. Albert Einstain found that light bends if it passes by the side of a large mass. How can that "which bends" be called unchangeable? Every created thing is subject to change by time; there is nothing like an universal constant. And the velocity of light is no exception to this law. The velocity of light of our Sun was greater in Krita Yuga than what it is now, even if it is by a small fraction. The velocity of light is proportional to the stored energy in the Sun or any other star. Modern science also accepts that the Sun has lost a lot of energy over billions of years. Then, there must be some other stars in the universe which have greater stored energies than the Sun, and are emitting light which is faster than that of the Sun? Yes. Modern science will confirm this after it develops more sophisticated equipment than what they have at present. -
Many users of IE7 are facing problems. Spyware Sucks : Diagnosing and resolving problems with Tabbed Browsing in IE7 Excavator for IE7 problems A lot of precautions are adviced to avoid known issues - no other browser has these 'limitations': Known issues - Internet Explorer 7 Internet Explorer 7 has been heavily criticised in the months before and after it came out, particularly by users of competitive browsers. Some critics say the majority of the new functions is blatantly stolen from Mozilla Firefox.[24] Also, various serious bugs and security leaks have been discovered. Internet Explorer 7 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia According to Microsoft’s IE Blog, the new version of the Internet Explorer browser will be ready this month, and some web developers are concerned about the new version’s compatibility with some websites. IE7 upgrade may cause problems for web developers | Internet Marketing News and Blog | E-consultancy.com October 2006 - IE7 upgrade may cause problems for web developers Nagging Rendering Problems - Easily the issue which will keep me from upgrading all my machines for awhile. Some pages (nothing terribly complex) look completely wrong in IE7, even those that look just fine in IE6. Hands-on Review: Internet Explorer 7 : Christopher Null : Yahoo! Tech Why some sites may not work with IE7: Every time a new version of Internet Explorer has been released, there have been sites that will not work with that new version. I also know for a fact that very few websites and programmes won't work with IE7 as they're not up to date or that they're no longer updated. In Trillian 3.1 Basic Build 121, checking for your mail or clicking on the URL link from messaging services (Yahoo!, AIM, ICQ or MSN Messenger) won't work until they provide a fix for this problem. One problem is that you cannot move the toolbars up and down as you used to in previous versions of IE, but other than that, people should live with that until Microsoft provides security updates and bug fixes on the 14th of next month. Mr. Bhrath, The usage of Netscape has gone down not because of IE7. More than 60% of IE7 users are reporting problems. There are several problems being faced by users of IE7 related to tabbed browsing: The option "open in new tab" is missing from the context (right click) menu; The tab band is missing completely; Sometimes third party toolbars may not appear, or seem to appear and disappear at will; Sometimes links will open in new windows, even when all options are set to tabs only. "Open in New Tab" context menu item is missing - Example: Google toolbar http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks/archive/2006/10/24/203178.aspx IEBlog : IE7 Tabbed Browsing Implementation I found that Firefox and Maxthon are better. Google is no longer the best search engine. Try AllTheInternet.com It claims to be better than Google and MS. -
