dailywarren Posted March 19, 2006 Report Posted March 19, 2006 Hello All,My name is Spencer, I live in Kansas City, Missouri, USA and I graduated UMKC back in '93. I'm a writer (former reporter/editor) and a lifelong devotee of the Boxer breed of canine. My current interests (they're always changing, it seems) are space exploration and the scholastic side of kung fu. I'm married to a wonderful Jewish girl from New Jersey who quite literally changed my life (she claims I did the same for her, but can one perfect perfection?). I read voraciously, am I huge proponent of the inter-library loan system and currently work at Fox News as a nobody. My highest personal and professional value is the truth. Quote

InfiniteNow Posted March 20, 2006 Report Posted March 20, 2006 Hi Dailywarren, Welcome aboard. The "scholastic side of kung fu," eh? That sounds mighty interesting. I look forward to hearing more about that, and exchanging ideas with you in the forums. Enjoy! Cheers. Quote
dailywarren Posted March 21, 2006 Author Report Posted March 21, 2006 Aww, man....now I want a cool name like "InfiniteNow"! Maybe I'll try a moniker for myself like "InfinitelyDense", or "StringbeanTheorist", or maybe even "DarkAlmaMatter"! I came across this forum (and hypography.com) during the course of a google search on McCutcheon's "The Final Theory", which is being sequestered through the interlibrary loan system. While quite keen on science in general and space in particular, I missed out on some elementary math early on in my education due to speech classes for a rather embarrassing impediment (I had trouble with my "S's", which is a tough break for a guy named Spencer!). However, at the ripe old age of 37 I've decided to go back to school for a 2nd degree, preferably astronomy or (if I lack number-crunching courage) planetary geology. I've done a lot of fun stuff in my life: reporter, stone mason, dog breeder, merchant mariner, ranch hand, Chippendale dancer (don't buy that last one!), but I want to be primed and ready for when the Hubble retires and the new space telescope goes up. But Kung Fu! Ahh, now there's a pleasure, quite like water to a desert traveler in this complicated age. My life now is filled with books on science and the kata forms of Wing Chun Fut (pronounced "icky icky ba-rook ptang...knee!"). I'd dearly enjoy talking Fu with Yu or anyone else, so feel free to bring up the subject at leisure...although I don't quite know what forum to start such a thread in. But, in general, thanks much for the warm welcome and as your guest you'll find me well-mannered, if a bit irreverant at times. My philosophy: laugh at yourself before everyone else does!Spencer Quote
TheBigDog Posted March 21, 2006 Report Posted March 21, 2006 Welcome DW. Don't sweat your name. InfinteNow used to be something I yelled during sex. Then I joined Hypograghy. Now it gives me the heebeegeebees when I do that. ;) Read, post, learn, enjoy. It is the way of the Hypographer. See you on the threads. Bill Quote
