The indisputable standstill of that assertion as relevant to mathematics of the Western world is the 7-tone scientific scale given of Pythagoras. There has recently been appended to that scale , and without contradiction to the standard, a 12-tone scientific scale. The question now might pertain as to what advantage there might be to this appending in describing the exacting relationship of one thing to another?? How might we best utilize It?
