binabik Posted June 9, 2008 Report Share Posted June 9, 2008 ok, i am gonna post some raw notes of my ideas, i got them by going though a wikipedia list of each and every cruise ship and getting ideas from them, i know it is way more in depth then these notes but i have only spent 24 hours oh them, they are crude, might not be understandable, simple since i have no training in engineering, though i am working torwards it, i have no idea if these ideas are even possible, good ideas, bad ideas, or anything, though i hope they are good, they are not organized so you can find relating information to the first idea at the very end so. well here they are Prefab apartments, 3 sizes, can install any anywhere as long as these requirements are met, if you want to put a size 2 apartment above side ones you will have to have 2 size 1s under it, if you want to install a size 3 on top of any combination it will be like this: 3 size ones in a straight line or a size two and a size 1, or here is something you can do put two size twos then put a size 3 and a size one also on top These will be in a ship but might work for any, might hav ethe install kinda like the container ships, this would be an extremely fast install and it can be taken out for repair Each apartment will be set up like a house, a cold water intake (waterless hot water heater in each apartment, shower and bathroom, though public bathrooms would be fine and space saving, fold out beds or futons that bolt into the floor, sewer line out to go to ship waste water treatment place, maybe that high compacity composter I found Electricity imput and output, small connection from one apartment to the other would make it use less wires, what is not used by first apartment goes to the next, a meter measures how much it uses or how much it sends on, a computer program can find out how much they used by how much they send on since they would know how much they pump in and can calculate how much is lost or something Enough food for at least a year 3 or 5 would be best Desalination for water, ship would have it’s own small plant, enough so it produces extra though Sustainability would be good so maybe on deck there could be a green house Solar panels are a must for power generation but won’t be all that it needs A shot gun shooting range on the back of the ship is a must since I like shooting, along with maybe a rifle range on the back also Needs a marina, passengers can rent a spot though since space will be an issue there will be a big price for it, it will be able to handle simple seadoos to maybe 10 or 15 foot boats So people can get around when on land fairly well there will be room for a pedal bike, or a moped or something of that sort The rooms will be preatty stock, but will be very customizable, shelfs you can use either for showing what is in them or unseen storage For each apartment maybe an attached hobby room would be good, someone could set up a horticulture lab with lamps inside if needed, I want a pool on the ship even though the ship will be fairly small, it will be for pleasure and excersize Track around the whole ship Gym Big/stable/strong enough to take 50 ft waves, but still not big Some sort of security team able to take out small boats that would be used by pirates, I am thinking infantry not 5 inch guns or what not, just some rpg type things. Plus anti personal incase they get boarded, would need some way to make this legal though since guns aren’t allowed in international waters A couple hundred perment passengers need to have some defense against pirates. Might make this legal by making it an established coast guard team, like 10 or 20 people. I want pets to be allowed also I want a park, of living trees Plenty of fuel but I want this to be able to hold in one place in the ocean mainly, have a sensor to detect the current and the azi pods act like a trolling motor in order to keep it in one place. Currents aren’t that strong and I don’t think it would take all that much gas in order to go 2 mph constantly as it would for 20 knots across the sea, of course I would want it to be able to cross the sea a couple times on one tank of gas. For the marina I would think that it would be good to mainly allow rigid hull inflateable boats (RIB) They are light and mostly small and there are ocean going RIBs Zodiac C27 RIB costs 245k which is expensive but if you are living on a cruise then expense might not be a problem. But it is a great boat and it is able to be used all the time, the boat might need a couple of these for maintenance or other stuff. Since they are all weather an can be used in the middle of the ocean. Has a range of 580 miles and payload of 2k, can go 52 mph, dementions are length is 24 feet, beam 9 feet and weight 5200 lbs, it can be used by the security team also. I want lifeboats for every single person The track that goes around the deck of the boat will have hills, it will also be able to be rolar skated on, I want a skateboard park that might help kids live on it. Racketball is popular also basketball Computer lab stocked with the best computers along with a gaming laptop for every passenger Tv in every room, a good one Small casino but that is just for adults to be able to play with and not loose money, as in maybe play slots with pennies, and nickles and be able to play as much as you want without loosing money, I want this to be enjoyable and I do not like people wasting away their money Spa is a must because lots of people use those Entertainment room for kids and adults, of course adults can use the kids ones and kids can use adult ones but in the kids it will be a place to play games have fun play console games that type of thing, where as adults might have a relaxing area Might be good to have a wall mart on the ship big enough for the people who live aboard and crew it. But, I want to have a cafeteria that offers good food, food that the residents will want to eat, like steak days, checked days, turkey days, stuff people want to eat and a variety, or have it so that the each persons meal is cooked right when it is ordered so there is no waste. Fitness center is a must Wedding chapel would also be good because this won’t be limited to families, anyone who has the money can live on it. Internet through out the ship is a must A good library is also a must, it might start out small and the books will be ordered as a customer requests one, a customer could also request a book for personal keeping Library won’t have any late fees Most stuff I would like to be open 24/7 Also, if you are part of the crew you get a deduction on your room, or it can be that everyone is assigned a crew position if they agree and they get discounts not only on rent but other stuff that will cost money. If enough people want it then a small art gallery would be good An observatory is extremely necessary, mainly for astrology A hospital is necessary, since this may stay out for even a year at a time it would also be good to have someone who can deal with pregent weamon and deliver the babies Day care for younger children is needed since some of the people on the ship will aslso be crewing it Alcahol will be extremely limited, as in maybe one drink a day, I dislike alcahol and drunks are an extreme danger to the ship, if anyone is found to be drunk ever they are off the boat If the order exactly what you want doesn’t end up being a good idea then a buffet might be a good way for the cafeteria to operate To make the ship some money and reduce the rates of living on the ship there needs to be some other job it can do, also to make the ship cost less and be less devastating if one goes down it might be extremely good to make it a convoy of smaller cruise ships, maybe there could be a taxi service to other ships in some kind of boat Or I can have a 24 hour food court with every type of resturant possible Might be good to have two pools, one for indoor and outdoor A 1 screen theater and/or an imax theater might be good Too leave room for all the stuff I want to put in it might be wise to do what the MS Artemis cruise ship is like and not have inside cabins, all cabins will have balconies. On and if it costs 50k a year for a small size one cabin it might cost 150k for a size 2 cabin and maybe 400k with a size three cabin, that way you make 50k per slot at least and if you instal a size 2 cabin you not only make 50k per slot but you make an extra 50k, and a size 3 cabin instead of making 150k you make 150k plus 250k more than 150k At these prices lets say there is 200 size 1 cabins at 50k a year 75 size two cabins at 150k a year and 50 size three cabins at 400k a year, this will equal 200x50000+75x150000+50x400000=X 10000000+11250000+20000000=X 41250000=X 41 million dollars per year income, if the ship cost 1 billion to build it would take 24.24 years to pay it off, that seems like too long to pay it off, might need to raise the price for some things. Lets say 100000 for each of 200 size 1 cabins, 250000 for each of 75 size two cabins and 500k for each 50 size 3 cabins. This would equal 63750000 income per year, once again if the boat cost 1 bil to build then it would take 15.7 years to pay off, I don’t know if this is reasonable but I think it might possibly be reasonable Place to dance is necessary School is necessary since I want families to be on this, or I can employ tutors Needs to be a shopping bazaar but I don’t want the passengers to have to spend much more than their yearly rent Instead of powering the systems with the engines I think it would be wise to have designated generator since they provide power a lot more efficient than engines Therefore can be smaller, turned on and off at a moments notice, that type of thing Bowling alley, this could be achieved by either some how stabilizing it, or my favorite way, make it wild bowling and the rocking is just part of the game Hair stylest and barber Part of the hospital there should be a therapy in case there is an injury Plenty of places to do all sorts of outdoor activities Helicopter pad, I would like it to be able to store two chinnooks in a hanger and be able to land a third if needed I want an arcade on this The arcade will be free or extremely cheap, the deluxe simulators will cost something per hour, I am talking about the sort of simulators that pilots train on, they will be flyable and if needed a experienced pilot to fly along side them. And teach them, it would be possible for someone to use one of the simulators so much that they could fly it expertly. Of course only on the simulator, not in real life. There will be a start up cost to design the custom rooms Of course a tennis court Not only do I want an outdoor track I want an identical indoor track also For the sports I have listed add to them any that I can think of, for instance vollyball, and I prefer to have one of the sports things on the outside and the inside Racing simulatros Huge idea: need to have a fishing boat, a fishing boat will allow the ship to get some fresh protein, since too much fish can be monotnus it should be a fishing boat that can fish for as many different types of things Nother huge idea, need to have a area on the ship close to the water for deep sea fishing, if it holds 500 people and you have a deck where 100 people can deep sea fish, it will reduce the food expense. And provide fun I think the cabins will be 10 by 15 by 8 (all in feet) (size 1) 10 x 30 by 8 (all in feet) (size two) 10 x 45 by 8 (all in feet) (size three) Every single one has a balcony Hospital in the center deck in the center of the deck Not only an outdoor shooting range off the back for shotguns and hopefully more, but an indoor shooting range would be ausome The area around the indoor shooting range would be surrounded with enough armor to stop a 50 caliber bullet The customers will be able to rent a gun space in the shooting range and will be able to buy their own guns, a gunshop with a competent gunsmith will be on hand 24/7 and range will be available 24/7 Gunshop will have a stock of all kinds of ammo, and the storage of guns will provide 2 pistols and 1 rifle for each customer who pays a really small fee, and then the fees are per gun and quite expensive I am a survivalist and I would want a possible stealth design, but I don’t think this is possible with all the balconies The coast guard should have 1 station per 10 people I think, the stations are where they sleep, if someone needs to come and contact the police/coast guard people they would go to the station, 2 people in the station at all times since a small armory will be in each they will be guards for that, there should be one near the hospital since that will be in the center of the ship and could need some help with a roudy patient or something, I also want one near the the outdoor shotgun range and the indoor range. binabik Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Share Posted June 9, 2008 Regular stores can make money under independent management I believe this would be the best way to do it, although I want a cafeteria that people will want to eat at they best way might be to have a food court where we just get someone who owns a McDonalds on land to agree to move into the ship, course there might not be enough customers on a 100-200 person ship Subway or pizza hut might have enough customers though, or it can be very small and make the food as it is ordered For the gun range it would be managed like an on land gun range, preferably run by someone experienced in managering and for gun safety it would be great to get a marine or other armed forces instructor. At each port a vote would be cast for where to go next, I kinda like the stationary in sea thing but I doubt the customers would go for that I want good radar so that the ship captin knows what is around it For defensive puposes it might be good to have gas turbine. Quite a few ships are powered by a diesel generator that powers electric motors Azipods are the best choice for this ship, but I want a backup system of rudder and some sort of propeller that can be lowered, as well as bow thrusters Sonar so they can look around if they want on the bottom of the ocean, kinda like treasure hunting, have it open to the customers Water cannons in case there is a fire at sea on another boat they need to help put out since they will be t To make it cheap, I want some bunks like on military ships so that just about anyone can afford to join, also there will be bunks for the crew though more comfortable and a bit bigger but if they are only working on the boat instead of paying to live on it, I feel that they shouldn’t feel claustrophobic but still have access to most of the stuff on the ship like the adult rec place stuff like that A mall that is kinda different than a regular one where they don’t keep a large stock, maybe 2 of the most popular items and 1 tester so that the customers can get the feel of it. A store they might need, since it will be voted on on how long to stay at port, it might be voted for even a month, this might allow people to do stuff on land like camping and backpacking, so there should be an outdoor shop like dicks or something The crew will be housed in a capsule hotel like area, this will allow a place to sit up in and with a tv, radio, computer hook ups, that type of think This ship can be long and thin as long as there are some decks dedicated to non apartments Cabins will be on the very top decks, safer to sleep near where you would be quickest to get off Bottom would be for the shopping center and stuff like that Will be plenty of life preservers but I believe every customer should have a deluxe preserver I want families to be on the ship because I think they would enjoy it, but it would be hard to estimate how much room you would need for 200 customers it could be 33 for a 6 person family or it could be 100 for 2 people only One way we could do is to put a maximum amount of people per room, as in 2 max for size 1 4 max for size 2 and 6 max for size three, of course someone can order a size three for just 1 person, if they wanted to, but this would give a good estimate Now the cabins will be recommended at 1-2 people for size 1 3-4 people for size 2 and 5-6 people for size 3 but like I said less people can be in there than recommended and more people can be in them if it is confirmed that there is less in the other. Another thing, we can have it so there can be visitors, if there is only 1 person in the size 3 then said person can have 5 guests on the boat for free, if there is 1 person in a size 1 they can have 1 person These guests can stay for free and use the facilities but there will be charged a higher rate, but it will still be less than another cruise For instance 3 meals for 10 dollars each for 14 days = 420Gym 5 dollars a day = 56 Pool 5 dollars a day = 56 Medical care, free because that would be part of the rentAs much luggage as your host will let you bring, bicycle storage for free there will be a weight limit for the design of the cabins probably but that will be the only thing that limits luggageNo discount at stores = what ever they buy on the ship will be a little more expensive then at home, but the stores will be mainly for emergency, since they won’t really keep much stock, I mean the passengers will know that they have to wait til next port to get the items but for guests it will be what is in stock Well can’t think of everything but for a 14 day cruise 420 dollars for food and board, water will be part of the water bill and electic bill is part of the cabin utility bill Just for kicks and giggles gonna list the expense of a 365 day cruise 365 day cruise for room and food is 10950, water and electric is part of the cabin utility bill Here is another idea A travel agency buys 2 size 6 cabins, at a base cost of 1 mil, 1 mil divided by 365 is 2739, this divided by 12 is 228, this travel agency can charge 600 dollars per day for a cruise of any length, well checking out cruises this wouldn’t be that good but it might spark some ideas, it might be good if a company wanted to buy 6 2 person rooms, that would be 300000 dollars initially this would give 70 dollars a day base cost for the company, they can then offer 140 dollars per day plus the expense of food, this equals 1960 for a 14 day cruise, you can’t find that cheap of cruise for a first class balcony room at least not easily, and with food for 420 and anything else that is available, and since this is gonna be a city on water it will have just about everything entertaining It seems like if the customers deduce that it costs 350k less to to buy 3 class 1 cabins and get the same amount of people as 1 size 3 cabin the ship won’t make as much profit, there needs to be some sort of incentive to buy a size 3 cabin, maybe pair the size 3 cabin or size 2 cabin with reduced marina costs or something, and reduced discounts at the facilities offered, reduced price for gun storage, more incentives for guests, Since pets are allowed on the ship it might be good to have a small vet on the ship The track I want it to be useable by bikers also Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

binabik Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Share Posted June 9, 2008 a couple more things, i will try as i might to be able to answer any questions, could be what do i mean, or what does this say, or something like that gonna list 1 or two more ideas the waterless heater thing, what i was trying to do with that is so that what they have to supply to the masses is as little as water, electricity, satalite tv, just a few connections if you have seen the movie america's port or what ever, that type of thing i am thinking of being able to add/remove or reconfigure the apartments easily, with the gantry crain, the cabins, or cargo storage on america's port, is put into 4 or so slots and locked in in a matter of seconds, and the for this there would be 4 on each corner of the size 1 cabin on the bottom of the size two cabin there would be 8 that would slot into two size 1 cabins or 1 size 2 cabins, and the size 3 cabin would have 12 that would fit in with 3 size one cabins, or 1 size one cabin and 1 size 2 cabin also, the way i am thinking of putting the cabins in is only along the edge in a single file line so 100 people slots on the left of the boat and 100 people slots on the right of the boat, i think the marina would be best sticking right outside back of the ship like some military ships and if the boat held within it is fast enough and the driver was skilled enough they could launch thier boat and ride close to the cruise ship while it is in transit Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We need some windmills too, as I didn't see them on your list. Oh, and I think a good starter ship would be an aircraft carrier instead of a cruise ship & then 1,000's instead of 100's can live, vacation, trade, target shoot, farm, or what ever people do. binabik Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Share Posted June 9, 2008 dang, nother thing, i can make a 250 foot minimum lenght ship with the cabin structure i want with 3 decks with cabins on it, add 3 decks or so and i think it would be possible to make this ship much smaller than i was envisioning and smaller is better IMO because it will keep the running costs down and be easier to handle and be built faster, and more, get to where it wants, be faster since you can put a bigger engine without going over the limit so. binabik Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Share Posted June 9, 2008 i posted that last post without seeing that one, windmills would be good but since i put solar i figured it would have multiple types, i don't really want thousands nor the 5 billion cost, i think it would be easier to build a purpose built ship then strip a aircraft carrier down of all military secrets and all that, a flat top might be good for the farming potential though oh and the idependent nation thing, i kinda threw that out because if you are an idenpendent you don't have any protection from any other nations and they would want to capture your land because you would be preatty weak, oh and i want a little crew as possible, i don't like how cruise ships have 3000 people and 1000 crew, or 1000 passengers and 600 crew so my remedy is to have as much of the passengers are part of the crew, you know maybe offer an incentive to get them to work, like 10k discount for size 1 apartment person and 30k for size 2 and 100k for size 3, maybe offer bigger discount if they are an expirienced mechanic, or a expirience cook, or a lower one if they have a crappy job, oh and i put janitors on the higher discount list because i think they are under paid, teachers or doctors might get a 50 -100k discount so Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
