Pool Water Chemistry

I am trying to use a salt chlorinator for my new above ground pool. The place I bought it from gave me some "Oxidizer(peroxide)" to put in the pool. I added it in and then soon after I added all the salt that is required. I have been running the salt chlorinator for about 3 days now and when I test the water, there is no chlorine in the pool. I have read a few things on the internet, obviously after the fact, that say that peroxide is a chlorine neutralizer. Is this true and if so, is it the cause of me not detecting any chlorine in the pool? Thanks for any help or information.

Let me preface this with, what I know about pool chemistry is from 20 years ago. I'm assuming by a "salt generator" you mean one of those newfangled systems that electrolizes salt to make chlorine (beats the old days when I used to throw in a bottle of bleach :magic: )

My first thought would be to know if your pH is still in a good range? Get that balanced first.

pH is dead on and still very little chlorine production. I have the Aqua-Trol set on 100% and I would assume that I should see the chlorine level rise slowly, but nothing happens. I'm completely stumped. I'm assuming the peroxide is still present in the pool and neutralizing most of the chlorine???
