Discovery of UV from metals at room temperature

Recommended Posts

Metals are known for incandescence. However, for the first time

metals have shown UV dominant optical spectrum at room temperature

when present as radioisotopes or X-ray fluorescent (XRF) sources.

Radioisotope 57Co has shown UV dominant optical spectrum at room

temperature. http://www.geocities.com/raomap/discovery3.html

Despite the fact metals are opaque to light at room temperature UV dominant optical spectrum was detected because excited atoms in radioisotopes and XRF sources act as 'Atomic state of matter' independent of temperature.
