  1. I've never read the book but has anyone here read it? I know the (CG) movie is coming out soon.. :clock:
  2. That.. Is... AWESOME! er.. Well, it sounds horrifyingly painful if you live long enough to experience a second of it. The part about your diaphragm tearing and your guts filling your chest cavity sounds pretty gruesome, especially that mental image I got. People do that? That sounds insanely dangerous, even more dangerous than base jumping or whatever it's called when you jump off of a really tall building and parachute like half-way.
  3. Well, let's just say, hypothetically, you swam from the top of the ocean all the way to that depth. What would exactly happen? Aside from drowning of course, I just can't logically see someone's entire body being crushed all at once instead of maybe a limb at a time. I assume that certain bodily functions and systems might be affected by the pressure.
  4. I'm not sure if this relates to Earth Science but my question is.. When you reach a certain depth in the Ocean, it's inevitable that you'll eventually just be crushed by all of the pressure down there. When you reach that depth, what actually happens? Are you slowly crushed or automatically just turn into a speck of death? Are you pulled into that "pressure zone" or are you repelled?
  5. Cool and uhm.. Yeah, sorry about the first part, I forgot there was a search button. *Smacks himself upside the head*
  6. In relation to something reaching the speed of light... Is there any explanation about what it might look like when something attains that speed? I know when something reaches the speed of sound, a loud crack rings out, so are there any effects of something reaching light's speed? Does anyone think we will ever reach the speed of light? I know it's such an immense speed, anything we might have to use in such a process would probably just disintegrate.. Edit: I know this is a very random thread for so few questions but uhhh... I don't know what I was going to say.. It might be the lack of sleep talking.... Sorry.
  7. Wow, thanks a lot for the support, guys. I won't let anyone down. :)
  8. I think I can take Calculus next year, I guess that would be a good idea?
  9. Well, it's not a good direction as of now... It's not really an intro to Quantum Physics, it assumes you know what the hell they're talking about when they express formulas and such. Also, I want to be a Quantum Physicist but I only realized that I wanted anything to do with Physics less than a year ago, so I haven't had much experience, and I can't even take a Physics class in High School... The prerequisite is Chemistry, and I couldn't take Chemistry in 10th or 11th due to certain complications... So.. Yeah, that's basically it.. It's just a whole mess. All In All, I'm having a tough time learning any Physics on the side, instead of in a classroom.
  10. Heh, well, I guess I want to know everything about it without being thrown off by technical mumbo-jumbo that I can't understand. My goal in life is to become a Quantum Physicist and I just want to learn all that I can.
  11. So apparently there's a book on Quantum Physics in my school's library. Last Friday, I figured I'd give it a quick look. It was like reading another language, I had to put it back, for the risk of head implosion was just too great. Is there anyone here that's a Quantum Physicist or interested deeply in Quantum Mechanics that can tell me about it? Or is there anyone that would like to give their thoughts on Quantum Mechanics? I'm just trying to start a discussion possibly. :)
  12. This is madness! ..Madness? Hah.. THIS I- Okay, I won't do it. But really, this is just craziness... If we've gone this far, what next? Air infused with battery-like capabilities? I won't doubt it for a second. >_>
  13. None of them..? The way it's worded is a little weird to me but I figure if you don't even know what numbers were rolled, they all have an equal chance of having a 6?
  14. I figured if something equals something, they're going to equal 1.. Not 0. :
  15. You can solve a Rubik's Cube with Math?
