I often read light from distant these objects took such-and-such billions of light years to reach us. However, it seems to me the objects themselves must be very much further away then light years mentioned. This is because we have been speeding away from these objects for billions of years, all the while light emitted from them has been chasing and passing us the entire time. Does anyone know how FAR away such objects are TODAY? Or put another way, how far have we traveled away from them in the billions of years it has taken the current visible light to reach us. hi !, Litespeed, ... Last fall, I gave away the next to last Bonsai tree I had; my remaining tree I kept by someone's request. It is a 7 year old varigated cypress which I started from a cutting. I'll try to get a picture for you soon. My obsession for Bonsai lasted about 8 years, during which time I collected over 120 trees with more than 60 varieties. I collected from the wild, collected & planted seeds, & started some from cuttings. I did not strictly adhear to Japanese traditions, either in my selection of species or manner of display. It was good therapy for a few years, but then became a burdensome entanglement. Twice a day, everyday, they had to be watered... Anyway, I have just the one now, & an uncomprable connection to trees still. Wow, Turtle! ... i'm impressed. Ha'Kavod! ["(with) The'Honor(s!)"] ... i'm also a horticulturalist & a tree and fruit-tree planter from the age of 8 or 9. ... i've tried also to make Bonsai's from willows and myrtles in the past. Just asking: ... Do You remember the "Sand-Terrarium-Fad" that swept the east coast of the United States during the mid to late 70's ?? I was in to it! Simcha.

shalom everyone! ... As an interesting side-topic: Has anyone been to "Crater-National-Monument" in Arizona ?? I was there! I saw it! It's about 40,000 years old, roughly a kilometer wide in diameter, and about a third of a klm. deep ! ... i didn't go down into it, but i walked along its perimeter. I was so impressed and awe-insipred,... that when i was leaving on the only access road in and out, (hhmm/hmmm/hmmm), i wasn't paying attention,... & i slamed into a "speed-limit-sign" and it flew over the top of my car ! (... no, of course i didn't report it. ... are u on drugs ?!?) ... If i recall, it was in the spring of '87 ... Simcha.
