Rock-Star

I seen something in the heavens last night that freaked me out. I'm not much of a star-gazer but astronomy still fascinates me. I just moved to a small town in Manitoba Canada, and now I can really see the stars. But last night (Jan 25) there was a bright light that I couldn't explain. I tried to convince myself that it was a star (but it looked about as bright as headlights from a car from a distance) If I believed in UFOs I would have sworn that's what it was...but it didn't move. Can somebody explain this? Did anybody else notice it?
