Swelling bites

Recommended Posts

what kind of bug bite?

Usually time and some lotion will reduce inflammation.

don't get bit by a Fiddler Spider (brown recluse)

I learned something today...

In the Midwest they got lots of brown recluses, but call them fiddler spiders.

'cuz it looks like a little fiddle on their back. :)

here they're just called brown recluses.

Hobo spiders you don't want either.

what a cool name, huh?

a Hobo spider

spiders are neat!

3 swelling bug bite marks about as big as a dime each.

And ideas on how can I make the swelling go down?

ice?

and how can I soothe the itch?

sorry, really lame questions, I know.

A baking soda poultice is usefull if you have no commercial preparations. Wash the bites with warm soap & water, rinse, & sprinkle baking soda on till it moistens & forms a doughy consistancy. Let dry.

When in doubt, seek professional medical attention. A spider bite may develop serious consequences.

My mom always treated our bug bites with vinegar in an emergency. I remember it once even helped soothe a wasp sting.

DCM, I would suggest you keep a careful eye on those bites. If they get any bigger or don't get smaller soon, rather ask your chemist for advice or even go to the doctor. We wouldn't want to lose you because of a bug bite! :phones:
