Lithuania becomes first EU country to cut off Russian gas

Hello, I recently read about this as well.
Lithuania claims to have completely cut itself off from Russian gas supplies, making it the first of the European Union's 27 member states to use Russian gas to sever its energy reliance on Moscow. Each day, European importers pay Russian corporations over $850 million for oil and gas, with Russia supplying around 40% of Europe's gas and 25% of its oil. Countries like Germany and Italy are still heavily dependent on Russian gas, making a European energy boycott far more difficult to calculate than the Russian oil ban, which took effect last month for the United States, which received no natural gas and very little oil from Russia. However, as the Russian army's actions in Ukraine become more apparent, several European nations have determined that continuing to rely on Russian energy is no longer viable, and that shutting down imports is the only way to hold President Vladimir Putin accountable. The discovery of mass graves of slain people in Bucha, a hamlet near Kyiv, caused international indignation and calls for Putin to be declared a war criminal. The situation also increased pressure on European countries to sever any remaining commercial links with Russia.
