The media is not out to inform us of the world events of the day, but to sell us what it can pass of as news. We always had extreme cold weather in the winter, but somebody coined the phrase "polar vortex" to make it sell. Now they give names to winter storms, too. Every time there is a little snow, they send their lower paid reporters to go stand in the street to act like it's exciting. That is the sort of coverage that makes people roll their eyes.
