Documentary on Serial Killers

The other night I watched this national geographic documentary on the interpol investigation and search for "The Serpent" (Charles Sobhraj). This serial killer supposedly killed people around the world, eluding the police for years. When they finally caught him, he actually escaped by poisoning all the prisoners and guards with candy. I hate to say it, but he seems like he must have been a smart man (messed up of course).

I had never heard of this man, but the wiki article was an interesting read. What a bizarre, and sad, story...

Was he smart?

Maybe, but you can be charismatic without possessing much intelligence. Since he apparently repeated his acts in a similar style, it leads me to believe that his game plan was un-malleable and, frankly, psychotic. And that, imo, is not smart. I'm glad that it finally caught up with him and he is where he needs to be for the rest of his days. :QuestionM
