It looks like the repeats of the Chasers War on Everything are finally over and the new season starts tonight on the ABC.

I only just got onto this, its brilliant :lol:

I heard a joke today that was touted as been 'Australian', it went a little something like this:

A priest turned up to do the precedings of a wedding to find that the guests in uproar and no sight of the bride or groom. The priest was then informed that the alcohol had already ran out and the best man had been caught having sex with the bride, so the wedding was off. So the priest went home, on arriving there he received a phone call from the groom 'where are ya? we are waiting for you' he asks, the priest replies 'I thought the wedding was off..' the groom laughs and says 'well it was, but we found more beer and the best man apologised so get your arse down here'

Ahh alcohol, the cause of, and solution to, all of life's problems. :shrug:

sadly so true.

perhaps we should give MJ arun?

Watched ABC's "Talking heads" tonight about an old TV man Bill peach

Talking Heads - Home

he now runs an aerial tour company of Australia.

to me if you wanted to see Australia this would be the way to go. be flown from one interesting bit to another.

I hate driving especiallt 10-12 hours at astretch to get anywhare.

I met aretired USA professor on a flight into Austrlaia on aplane into australia one day.

I asked him where he was going . "O, Monday Sydney, Tuesday Melbourne Wednesday Airs Rock, Thursday Perth, Friday Darwin, Saturday Brisbane."

I was gob-smacked "You will see nothing but the inside of airports!" I said.

He got quite huffy and said the itinerary had been designed by a USA "Australia Specialist" Such a waste of a week! The poor guy (about 70yo) would be lucky to physically survive the trip!

Sometimes I think Yanks think of Australia a little like the Hawaiian Islands. It is an island after all

I know a friend was accused of abducting his child (he is is sadly separated from his wife) when he took her for a two hour drive out of Dublin Ireland. The court could not understand hwy he would travel so far!!!

Here (Oz) you travel two hours to buy a packet of cornflakes.

Can you define what the meaning of president is? :D

Sure:

  1. One who is deficient in judgment, sense, or understanding.
  2. One who acts unwisely on a given occasion

Ah yes, the austere Australians...er, I mean Austrians... :headbang: :lol:

Nothing like a few beers to drown that austerity and make them practically indistinguishable from the Aussies :(

I've often thought of visiting Oz, but the funds are not there, yet.

So if I plan a trip to Oz, what would you Aussies say would be the best destinations, allowing for the following:

* I would love to visit Tasmania (I know...)

* I'm not into urban so much, but it would be great to mingle in a city to learn the talk of the street and local customs etc...

* The Outback sounds great, but not top on the list by any means.

* Coastal towns are appealing

* Diversity, Diversity, Diversity

* Indigenous studies; particularly those related to survival and tradition

* Ecology - heck, I'll even volunteer to eradicate some cane toads :(

I have some ideas in mind, but I'd really love to hear input from all the Aussies here. :headbang:
