So, I'm working on my science fair project, and I'm at the point in the data analysis where I need the null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis. The null hypothesis is simple enough, but I'm having a lot of trouble with the alternative hypothesis. See, it needs to be a directional hypothesis, but my independent variable doesn't really accommodate one. In my project, I am testing different plectrum (music pick) materials to find how pitch is affected by the material. My materials are: cardboard, foamboard, wood, rubber, and 3D-printed plastic. A directional hypothesis would need to

Hello, my name is TheSandhillCraft, and I had taken Earth Science classes at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. At that time, what I had learned in those classes had inspired me to create an alternate Earth, with geographic and geological features different from Earth's but still inspired by them. The problem I have is that I know only the Cause--i.e. the changing of the geography--and not the Effect (how the changes in geography influence landscape, climate and weather). I have the whole description written down, but before I show you the description, if it is not too much trouble,

So basically a random mutation develops in Syria that gives a high resistance/Immunity to Neurotoxins (I.E. Sarin gas, nerve gas). What i would like to know is the specifics on how(if it is actually possible in the real world) for this gene to spread and be guaranteed to pass on to offspring, but also require both parents to have at least one copy of the gene for it to be active. Optionally, if such a gene is possible: what is the rough growth of this gene in a population from a single carrier after 14 generations, or the formula to calculate it's growth?

Hey everybody, newbie here. I am going on 38 and have a degree in IT back in 2009, I just lost my only job in the IT field and cant find anything else. I am having my mid-life crisis and I am totally lost and don't know what to do. I am going to get my CDL and drive a big rig. I leave this weekend for a CDL training which. I always liked geology and enjoy watching TV shows/documentary about it. I am a nerd, geek and movie enthusiast. I am thinking about going back to college for geology but just scared too because of money and not having a full time job for 4 years. I have some money saved
