If we swing a glass plate like a hand-held fan, then we cause an alternating current in the air, that is, we cause longitudinal waves in it. If we swing it pretty fast, then we cause sound waves as well (which are also longitudinal waves). If we now rub the glass plate with a woolen cloth, then the plate is electrified. If swing it again, we cause besides the air- and the sound-waves, also electromagnetic waves, which are also longitudinal waves. • • • • • I will jump for a moment to another question, to the one what an electric current is (for more details please see "What is electric cur

I recently came across an article, released about a month ago, about a new method for brain stimulation that may be the best method so far. It's called TI Stimulation (at least that's what we call it now) Article It allows deep brain stimulation without stimulating any overlying areas of the brain. It works by getting 2 electric fields (it may be easier to understand if you think of the electric fields as waves) to interefere with each other. Each electric field's frequency is too high to stimulate neurons. When the 2 fields meet, they temporally interefere, to create an 'envelope' a

(This video has Subtitles) In this video i try to make an approachable explanation of what is sound. Because is something so fundamental in our lifes, deserves to be understanded in physical terms but don't worry, this is a simplified version. First is explained how sound is a vibration and a wave, then is approached a very important property of sound, Frequency.I also talk about the speed of sound and how it changes with the medium in wich it propagates. In the end i mention some cool applications of sound like breaking glasses, visualizing sound and levitating small objects.

Hi guys :D A shaped charge is a device capable of focusing the energy of an explosion in one point, this makes it capable of piercing many inches of steel without needing a lot of explosives. This kind of explosive charge was first used in the second world war as a anti-tank weapon. The effect that describes the focusing of the explosion's energy by a hollow or void cut was discovered by Mr Edward E. Munroe. In this video you can learn more about explosions, shaped charges, the Munroe effect, shock waves and waves.
