  1. Maybe when I was referring as math, I was really thinking about logic, But in reality some concepts are better understood with some math in them. Like the laws of motion or the laws of thermodynamics, you can understand the concept but with the formulas, it becomes more clear (and useful) the relationship between the parts of the concept. I admit I don't know any specific uses in philosophy. I assume in certain cases you need the more clear formulas than words to explain correctly or as I said in my other post to use them for an argument.
  2. Depending on what the topic is. Sometimes to understand some concepts you need math or to make some argument.
  3. I think the real question is what do you refer as "meaning" is . Everybody has its own definition of meaning, But what do you probably are trying to say is "What is life for?" In that sense, life is a result of the laws of the universe. Some say it's by some accident. I subscribe to the theory that life was an unavoidable phenomena. It just emerge and thrive when the conditions are the correct ones. The only thing life is good for is reproducing and creating more entropy. For me, I think that, for a conscious being, the "meaning" is whatever fulfills its psychological needs and is satisfactory
  4. https://journals.plos.org/ploscompbiol/article?id=10.1371/journal.pcbi.1006793 Hello to everyone, here is a scientific paper I would like to discuss. Is about simulated bacterial communities with one source of energy and certain variables, and how they affect them. The results show that there are two regimes depending on the leakage and supplied energy. The two regimes differ in some ways with the abundant one sharing some characteristics with actual biological systems. I think these is a great step in the right direction for the understanding of the dynamics of microbial ecosystems. But nev
  5. HI, I'm Solrack, (it's a pseudonym) I'm a biotechnologist interested in biology, medicine and things related to those. I don't have a great understanding in complex math, but I'm trying to learn about it. I will try my best to contribute to the community. Thanks for the attention.
