  1. Hi Yes a wood chipper will do it. If you use a little water it will reduce the dust and risk of a fire from any possible sparks. Cheers Barney

  4. UPDATE I agree with Philip Small about the electric garden chipper/shredder. I purchased a small electric garden chipper/shredder i have found using this very affective at breaking up charcoal,i put through contents of a 40 liter bin filtered it through an onion sack which has a coarse weave and cheap, largest bits are 2.5-3mm,50-60% of the 40 liter bin passed through the filter i then reground the larger bits filtered again about 45% went through filter reground remaining what didn't go through the filter was very small in size and quantity so i just added it to the garden. Garden soil treated with charcoal / bio char do these Soil Amendments make a difference ? 1 mycorrhizal fungi 2 Humates Has anyone had positive results using these amendments in there garden soil to improve plant health and growth & taste of vegetables.   10. Hi Anyone here have any experience with making/using wood vinegar. I Have produced some raw wood vinegar i have filted it through crushed charcoal to clean up the light oil layer on top and also the thick wood tar,but it is still a little cloudy. Is there any way of cleaning this up,or do you just wait for it to settle out. To use wood vinegar on plants you have to dilute,but to use on soil in garden or as a activator for compost do you dilute or use neat,if dilution is required what ratio should i use. Cheers Barney
