  1. What i think i know: So GR is perfect for describing objects with extremely large masses, such as celestial bodies, and QM is what we use to describe atomic and subatomic phenomena. But we've all been told they don't cooperate very well when used together, with cases such as black holes, which have extremely large mass, but are extremely small. Hence the search for a unifying theory, such as string theory. What i would like to know is what exactly happens for these two to contradict or disagree etc? What happens with the equations or predictions the two theories make?
  2. There is ctrl alt backspace, which just quickly resets the interface or somesuch. closes everything down. only way i know of to get a task manager is through (i assume your on ubuntu?) the system/admin menu.
  3. In Flanders Fields By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918) Canadian Army In Flanders Fields the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
  4. One small difference i can spot between America and someone like Hitler's rise to power. Hitler was extremely popular among voters before seizing power, as apposed to Bush's quite terrible approval rating.
  5. Although i agree with you on many aspects, I see no reason to not legalize marijuana. I live in Canada, (and Vancouver at that..) where it is already pseudo legal. From everything I've read and seen of it, it is no where near as dangerous as alcohol, which is already legal. I'm not saying legalize all drugs, as yes, many are very dangerous to everyones health, even those around the users. But people high on marijuana prefer to sit around, stare at things, play video games,a no eat food. Rarely will they try anything stupid, or hurt other people, especially compared to people that are drunk.
  6. I dont wanna turn this into a flameing war.. but since when doesn't the truth work? And are you saying creationism isnt truth? And also, how can you generalize that all hoaxes regarding creationism are in good faith? The people behind the Creationism museum are getting paid a salary of 1million dollars.
  7. According to a source at The Age (cant post the link due to my lack of posts), the dinosaur tissue seems to support the bird-dinosaur link more then defy it. Scientists have claimed the tissue to be nearly identical to that of the ostrich. As for how it survived those millions of years, that all depends on what situations it was in when it died. That source doesn't mention anything about what enviroment they found the tissue in, so i can only speculate. It is possible though for these things to be preserved extremely well if the animal is covered by some sort of material, be it ice, or at the
  8. Neanderthals couldn't have been Aztec slaves. They lived mainly in Europe and the Middle east, and were extinct about 24000 years ago, far before the Aztec civilization. Most likely, as you stated, the skulls are deformed through some sort of traditional practice, just as many other cultures have forms of contorting their bodies. Chinese foot bindings come first to my mind. I still dont see how this changes the validity of Evolution. If you continue to stumble across claims such as these, I suggest you check their facts with other sources.
  9. Ill start with disregarding international law and the UN Security Council's veto of war with Iraq, and disregarding NAFTA in the softwood lumber dispute with Canada.
  10. Nootropic, if you use direct substitution, you get 0/0, which is undefined, not the root of 2 over 0.
  11. Well. I'm surprised I didnt see that. Thanks Ron.
  12. Just reviewing a bit of calculus, and this question stumped me. [Latex]\displaystyle\lim_{x\rightarrow2} \frac{\sqrt{6-x}-2}{\sqrt{3-x}-1} [/math] Anyone got a solution? And i would appreciate an algebraic way, you dont learn anything from just typing it into your calculator. Edit: Ive already tried rationalizing the top and bottom, neither one creates an equation in which you can derive an answer. Thanks. PS. that latex stuff can be confusing :xx:
  13. Hey, whats up everyone? I dont know why i call myself dobin, just something i made up in a random conversation with a friend. Anyways, im most interested in Physics and Chemistry, but world politics can usually catch my eye. See you in the forums.
