  1. But please, don't . City people always bring their troubles with them and the countryside vanishes. First they complain about the dusty and muddy roads and demand pavement, then they complain about the noises and odors from the farms and the farm machinery on the roads. Then they want sidewalks and bigger, fancier schools, and it goes on and on. City people are not cut out for country living!

  2. Ocean, this is kinda wrong to blame on chinese, it could have happened anywhere and anytime. Let me explain by copy-pasting a reply of a friend of mine to a fb-petition asking to ban live animal markets in China: Zoonotic (from Greek: ζῷον zoon "animal" and νόσος nosos "sickness") transmission can occur in any context in which there is companionistic (pets), economic (farming, etc.), predatory (hunting, butchering or consuming wild game) or research contact with or consumption of non-human animals, animal products, or animal derivatives. ... So this petition is missing a few FYI. I mean 7

  3. Good point. Very much like the lice killing off an unhealthy garden, this covid-19 pandemic seems to be killing primarily people who are vulnerable due to other pre-existing health problems. That includes the frail elderly people who have already been given a death sentence by being sent to nursing homes. People with heart disease, diabetes, obesity etc who are also somewhat older, but not elderly, are not strong enough to fight off a flu-like infection, are also more vulnerable to fall victim to this illness. I can’t find a single documented case of covid-19 killing anybody under the age of

  4. While I agree that we are all going to be infected at some time or other, I don't agree with your statement that there is a 3% mortality rate average over the entire population. There is no way that anyone can possibly know that. The 3% mortality rate is only among confirmed cases and most of those confirmed cases are people who have severe symptoms that require medical attention, and so have been tested for the virus. The actual number of people who have been infected, but who have Not become ill enough to seek medical help and who have not been tested, is much higher. When you use that t

Then it could be expressed in words as: “The four elements of this cardinal set of basic arithmetic functions are addition, subtraction, multiplication and division” But I’m not sure why anyone would want to do this?

Your post is rather long, so I will just pick out this one sentence: "So I would say, you can't be a good scientist if you take things as absolutes" And I go further and say that you cannot be a scientist at all if you take things as absolutes, and I don't know any actual scientists who do this. I have worked with many scientists throughout my years with the NOAA and they all operate on the principle of following the preponderance of evidence, as I wrote in my earlier posts. I think the OP's question has been fully answered now by multiple people, multiple times but it seems to me he is w

In science everything is subject to new information coming in, science is a self correcting process, it becomes ever more precise but will never, by design, reach a 100% conclusion. This "design" is what allows science to be self correcting and moves it closer and closer towards reality.

According to Donald Trump the Coronavirus is fake news and people are at low risk for being infected, read more at https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/486559-trump-fake-news-media-democrats-working-to-inflame-the-coronavirus P.S. I tend to agree the coronavirus isn't as bad as the media is making it out to be, only 100,000 people infected and 3600 deaths, it's a very weak virus considering that chickenpox used to infect 4 million people per year and the flu infects 45 million people per year with 12,000 to 61,000 deaths. In my opinion this coronavirus scare is the biggest hoax in t

We're so inundated and constantly barraged by empty headlines about Covid, Racism, Trump BAD, and such nonsense, that a good amount of people actually believe it... They are unable to critically think, or choose not to, so as to avoid any social media repurcussions.. Its a complete disservice to anyone with a cognitive brain. I disagree with you stating that Trump has alienated "normal thinking people".

  14. See Olber's Paradox The assumption is for a universe that is infinitely old, with an infinitely large number of stars distributed homogenously in an infinite space. In that case, the entire sky would be as bright as the surface of a star. The resolution is the observed fact that the universe is finitely old and is expanding. This, coupled with the finite speed of light means that only a finite number of stars can be observed from Earth. Also, redshift of light, caused by the expansion, shifts observable light into the microwave range, as we see in the cosmic microwave background which do

    Mask Rules Expand

Facemasks in medicine are mainly to prevent flesh-eating bacteria from getting into a patient's open wounds though the breathing of the doctor/nurse/observer. if your surgeon "clears their throat" you should probably reschedule, or double-down on antiseptics and antibiotics. It's the same with hand washing: BACTERIA not VIRUS are the main concern and efficacy. Viral particles are NOT going to be blocked by either a surgical mask OR the cheap cloth ones people "feel good" about wearing. Just like a lot of other viruses in it's larger family, CoViD19 uses a pathway in mucoid tissues to infect

Even the experts say that masks may be helpful in only a few situations. OK, but look at this pair of interesting facts in juxtaposition: One of the symptoms of covid is shortness of breath or difficulty breathing According to experts, face masks shouldn’t be used by people who have trouble breathingThe takeaway is, although face masks may do some good in some cases, they can do some harm in other cases. Therefore, mandatory use by all is dangerous and an overreach of authority. A couple of other interesting facts: Almost all people who need to be hospitalized “for covid-19” have other exi

What is so great about BLM?? what have they actually done for the betterment of Black Lives instead of trying to destroy a prosperous system? Equal Outcomes is not a feasible reality. Everyone who makes good decisions, works hard, and is a generally cool person, has every opportunity to succeed in this country. Systematic Racism is a recently made up term. It's that nasty truth that "it wasn't real communism" and "it wasn't real socialism" is often used to pass-off guilt from the mechanisms in play that result in forced labor. Sure, Monarchy is often horrible too(the middle east and european history as example) but at least you can blame that on a very small group and not a dispersed network of soulless "policy" and "just following orders." Of course, the USA and Canada are kinda guilty of it too. The prison systems

On your question: One intuitive way to grasp it is that Gravity can pack more "space per area." Light still travels at C, but there is more distance-per-area for it to travel when there's more stress on space itself so it takes more time for it to get past that area. That's drastically over-simplified, but it's an intuitive way to grasp at the invisible forces at play.

    Conspiracy Theories

Be careful labelling all conspiracy theories as nonsense, always try to avoid precondition responses like that. Conspiracy theory (whether naturally or by design, or a bit of both) has become a highly weaponised term that produces a trained response. No doubt some conspiracy theories are somewhat accurate while others are utter nonsense. Look at it this way, do you trust the people in power or those with wealth and/or influence? Almost everybody would answer no to this question and yet reject every example of possible instances of those same people lying and covering it up, that's an irration

  33. The most global joke is that no meaning of life exists. There is not even a concept such as "destination." The universe, when creating life, does not wonder what this life should pour into. This is logical, because having assigned each person a specific meaning of existence from the start, the Universe deprives us of two things that it itself provides us with - the right to choose and freedom. This concept, to put it mildly, looks wretched, and the Universe can act only ingeniously, therefore its whole idea is to provide a person with a testing ground for experiments, be sure to check out

A report by Rockwell automation, which is mildly related https://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/wp/oem-wp014_-en-p.pdf A motion controller can control multiple axis with extreme accuracy. If you are using flying shears or rotating knifes with a motion controller why would you need to stop start and use a dancing arm to maintain tension. PID is probably not a good idea in this application, PID is more suitable for process control.

    Free Will?

Any choice you make is deterministic, but it is deterministic specifically to you. Free will is the product of the structure of your brain (nature) and everything you have experienced up to the point of the decision you make. That is, every choice you make and every decision you make is the product of everything you have done and experienced and who you are, everything that you have experienced and know and how you are wired is specific to you and only you, and the decision you make is the product of those two principles. So it is completely deterministic, but it is deterministic on so man
