  1. As a side note, Tegmark and others have presented papers showing that the signature 3+1 is the only one compatible with sentient observers — quite an interesting find, if true. One can logically imagine three dimensions of time and one of space, or four dimensions of space and none of time, or any other combination you could dream up, but none of them seem to admit of observers. So if one asks why we live in a 3+1 cosmos, it is an anthropic selection effect. Of course, the “why” here only refers only to why we observe, what we observe; not why it is that way, and not some other way. It is only

  2. Of course, another believer in evolutionary psychology! What a shock! Those who want to see this sort of nonsense thoroughly and repeatedly debunked are recommended to read P.Z. Myers' Pharynguyla blog.

  3. I am a Mechanical Engineer by profession. So I lack higher end Physics and relate education. Still, I ponder and self educate when I can. I am non-confrontational by nature...also polite the best I can be. I tend to have some non mainstream thoughts (higher level species, aka Kardashev scale types). I do not believe in any mankind recorded or speculated diety though. I have a somewhat solid, self taught, understanding of GR, SR, QM, QED, QFT. Also, cosmology in general. I look to expand understanding in all areas related to those areas mentioned and also new areas. Thank you for membership a

  4. Your question is good because it highlights the thing most misinterpreted about relativity. If the light hits the eyepiece in any frame, it must hit the eyepiece from any perspective. Reality is not subjective and fractured into equally valid perspectives. The event is invariant but due to the lag or lead of moving clocks relative to other clocks, the timing of the event is affected by the perspective. There is no length contraction because if the angle of the mirror shrinks due to length contraction there is no reason to assume the angle of the light off the mirror doesn't also shrink due to

  5. Interesting position to take I think GAHD tries his best with admin/mod duties. As for myself, I don’t have the time to spend here and have advised GAHD to try and find someone else to replace me; maybe you would be interested in the job? A big part of the problem is there simply are not that many people posting here and of those who do post, a disproportionate number are crackpots or pseudointellectuals who have no real background or training in physics or mathematics but can’t help themselves from pretending. If we were to ban these people there would not be enough quality poster

  6. Which is what he said in his first post. This could be an interesting example to solve using time only as there's no such thing as length contraction. PS. Considering time only, this is the same as the moving light clock example. The angle of the light bouncing off the light clock mirrors gets smaller as the light clock's speed increases relative to a stationary observer. Like I said, there's no such thing as length contraction. As Einstein said a theory should be as simple as possible and he also said his theory depends on both time dilation and length contraction working together to guara

    Simple Theory

The gravitational portion of the theory must be re-written to have a magnitude from a baseline value: a = 4πGh/c^2 4πGVe/c^2 = a * 8/15 * π^2 * exp(5*6π) 4πG2me = a * 8/15 * π^2 * exp(5*3π) 4πG2mp = 6 * a * 8/15 * π^2 *π^5 *exp(5*3π) Where a is the baseline acceleration field, G is the gravitational constant, h is the reduced Planck constant, e is the elementary charge, c is the speed of light, V is the voltage of space-time as I've previously described, me is the mass of the electron and mp is the mass of the proton. The exponents here are similar to a hyperbolic cosine and repres
