Polar coordinates

Hello

i just reviewed in my calc class polar coordinates and the fact that some problems such as r=4cos 2(theta) (this equation may be wrong its suppose to be a circle don't have the book on me or a grapher) and r=Pi/3 only have one mathimatical intersection however when graph they clearly have 2. This really is bothering me that it doesn't make sence and that something else must be left out.

I understand that a point may have a infinite amount of coordinates for it but it just doesn't quite make sence why only a finite work and seems that even fewer if any work out mathimatically.

Hope that made some sence at what i am trying to get at.
