Moontanman
If, and I know what a big word if is, but if you could take species of animals and plants from Earths past and plant them in the ecology they occupied in the past. Assume a blank planet, some modern animals would be included, but the point is that each of these animals and place them in the place they occupied would such an diverse ecology work? Assume a blank planet, some modern animals would be included, but the point is that each of these animals and place them in the place they occupied would such an expanded ecology work? It would work as long as the atmosphere, soil, and things like rainfall were the same, it would greatly depend on the tolerance for different climates that the plants/animals have. If the place was exactly the same then I would imagine you could plant plants/animals on that planet or ecosystem however if it was too different in any of these previously discussed ways they would die, this is the reason why we cannot place things like bacteria and trees on Mars, the temperature is too cold and they die, which is why bacteria and plants for Mars would need to be genetically engineered you could always change their tolerances for different factors that come into play by changing their genetic and protein structure like in the (http://www.scienceforums.com/topic/34405-red-cold-loving-bacteria-for-mars/) thread.
