Magnetic Modification Of Wavelength

I once created an experiment where I passed UV light thru a one inch copper coil and into a test bed of photographic film. The effect of passing light thru a metal is called "Plasma oscillation" see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasma_oscillation

The only problem is that I passed the 450 nm UV light thru a copper coil and it modified the wavelength down to around 40 nm. Which is the spectrum that is transparent to copper. So the question I have is this. Is there a theory that describes that affect of magnetic field modification of wavelength? And where do I access the equations for said theory?

Thanks in advance. I tried to post pictures of the test bed but the forum said JPG's are not allowed here. And hopefully I posted this in the right section?
