Breaking: New Potentially Habitable Exoplanet Found Around Teegarden's Star

Astronomers have discovered a potentially habitable exoplanet around Teegarden's Star.

Teegarden is an old red dwarf star 12 light-years away in the Aries constellation.

The exoplanet found, called Teegarden b, has a minimum mass almost identical to Earth.

It orbits within the star's habitable zone. And it has a 60% chance of having a temperate surface environment.

Surface temperature should be closer to 28°C assuming a similar terrestrial atmosphere.

Teegarden b is the exoplanet with the highest Earth Similarity Index discovered so far: 95%.

This means that it has the closest mass and insolation to terrestrial values.

Perfect place to setup a colony, begin sending the probes to this planet, Mars then this planet. The only problem is there probably isn't oxygen on this planet due to life generated the oxygen atmosphere of earth via photosynthesis from CO2, that is the problem with colonizing space is due to most planets do not probably have the atmosphere needed to walk on the planet without a spacesuit. Odds are it may have liquid water but the atmosphere probably doesn't match what is needed for animal life from earth. Even if it doesn't have the atmosphere needed for life still a good planet to explore as a 3rd or 4th colony in space being that it is so close to home at 12 light-years, even if it has large quantities of CO2 like Mars photosynthesis can convert this planet too.

I think we should concentrate on this planet first, or it will be only the money bags leaving and leaving the rest of us behind.

You are thinking about this the wrong way, when all the rich people leave this planet will be a paradise without evil money gubbers, then we can print more money and never remember them. There will always be plenty of money as you can just print more. I print Bitcoin and exchange it for other currencies, printing money is the way to go.

Chapter 5, verse 5 reads: “Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”

Are we really so blessed? We'll see....Depends on how much destruction they will leave behind and whether it is reversible.

Do you think that book written by ancient peoples is true, personally, I don't put much stock in anything the bible says sounds too good to be true and often things that are too good to be true aren't. That's why I believe in Nuclear Fission and Nuclear Fusion for saving the environment and not God. That is a sub-note in most of my works that God is wrong or does not exist, Only human hands can save a human world.

True is too strong a word for me. I do believe there is a superintelligence, man probably has been able to speak to this ''unseen intellect or world,'' - the problem is, religion is false - it is the cause of many murders, many sins and much corruption. If wisdom is what we go by, then yes, the Bible is full of wisdom, and if wisdom can be found undiluted, it is not a religion per se. There is no religion on the Earth that has not been twisted in some way to suit the benefits of man.

You know what I agree with this, it has much wisdom in the bible but however many of its claims are false about this world when dealing with other things as it has been twisted to mean something it never was supposed to mean like the Roman Catholics used it to burn people alive and drown people for believing other things about the world many of which were scientists. That's why as a scientist I will have nothing to do with religion and their practices though I would dare to say learning from the books lesson is not wrong, it just means keeping a open mind about the subject.

Incidentally, it looks like there are 2 planets around Teegarden that may be earth-like.

Planetary system

Observations by the ROPS survey in 2010, published in 2012, showed variation in Teegarden's star's radial velocity, though there was insufficient data to make claims of planet detection at that time.[16]

In June 2019, scientists conducting the CARMENES survey at the Calar Alto Observatory announced evidence of two Earth-mass exoplanets orbiting the star within its habitable zone.[12][17]

Both planets are expected to retain a dense atmosphere, and with high likelihood at least one may harbour liquid water.[18]
