petrushkagoogol
Is there any truth (neurological basis) in the oft depicted cinematic cliche where a father-to-be passes out when he sees his wife having labor pains and a delivery ? Buffy
My ex was in the room for my Cesarean. He seemed to have survived. In fact he went out for a hamburger while I was in recovery! :surprise: 'Singin' in the Rain' and childbirth are two of the hardest things I ever had to do in my life, :phones:Buffy Maine farmer
exchemist
I think we'd need to ask a midwife to get a statistically valid reply to this. I certainly didn't feel at all like passing out when our son was born. I was in fact given plenty to do by the delivery team. sanctus
I heard it happens often, but I think it is just the sight of blood (and visible pain on the partner) and these guys also would pass out seeing blood in other circumstances. DrKrettin
Perhaps the colour of the baby is significant
exchemist
Perhaps the colour of the baby is significant :eek:I gather they are often purpleish and pretty filthy. Ours was. I shall never forget the Alien-like moment his head popped out and he sort of seemed to look around, while the rest was still inside. Very odd. But I'd been up all night so was pretty light-headed and imagined things. They put him under the grill (that's what it looked like) and I got told, rather roughly, by a nurse, to put a nappy on him. So I did.... Buffy
Deepwater6
Perhaps the colour of the baby is significant :eek:Or it has visible signs of another race apart from the father and the mother. Somebody has some explaining to do. sanctus
wiseshopper
I have read several articles about this and it seems to be true. My brother-in-law went through this when my sister gave birth to their first child. This was just recently and I heard he hasn't recovered yet. petrushkagoogol
