I want to order some cell culture agents and stuff but am unsure if I need to be part of an institution/organization to place an order. I graduated university 2 years ago so I no longer have any ties with a university. I emailed their customer service email but got no reply. Thanks. The people who are interested will find them. To answer your question, I'm not familiar with Corning but I've been in B-to-B commerce my whole career and I can tell you that requests from individuals to organizations who only do business with other businesses are ignored. They simply aren't in a position to sell in the quantities you're likely to want. You'd be best off finding a distributor that caters to small schools/universities/businesses. Enjoy your stay! Buffy Posted August 7, 2017 Report Share Posted August 7, 2017 I don't know for sure, but these days if you can't order from their website and you can't easily find a retail outlet that carries their products, then yes, they do B-to-B only. For most companies though, you can find a distributor, but even then, their minimum quantity requirements may make it "not for consumers." *Buffy runs off to write a business plan for selling Corning stuff* Brands will increasingly handle their own e-commerce and rely less and less on local distribution partners.
